Hi guys! You may well of seen my R32 at the last 2 events at Shelsley Walsh. I go to alot of shows but the gathering is my favourite. Usually head up there with a few friends from Swansea early hours of the morning, mental spin through the Brecon makes for a thoroughly exciting day.
Little bit of background on the Skyline:
Earliest photographed existence in the UK would be 2010 when it used to be white, full interior etc. It was then bought by 'Clarkey' an upcoming drifter residing in London. The car then went through many transformations, at one point it was the 'Team Aerokit R32' and then finally ending up pretty similar as to what it is today, Ford Imperial Blue.
I swapped my Evo M3 for it Feb 10 2013, 2 days later i blew the RB20DET, 5 months after that it was RB25DET converted. Pretty straight forward conversion, RB20 ancills and mounts bolt to RB25, couple of wires on the ECU and injector loom. The yellow 25 had known oil pressure problems so i changed the oil pump but that engine only lasted 6 months, spun all the bearings seized solid. It stayed down the farm for another 6 months before i dragged it up to my good friend Adam at AMP Performance Engineering (AWD Volvo 850R Saloon.)
June 2014: So out came the yellow engine, in went the time warp engine. Poor bloke wrapped his R33 round a tree 13 years ago... Engine and gearbox sat in the scrapyard dry stored for all that time. We picked it up, partially stripped it and yeah, it was brand new, Result! Swapped that in, complete new gasket set etc etc running like a dream and has done ever since.
Went off and done a few events, drifting mainly. Welsh motorsport festival and a few other days at Pembrey, RRG14, and Llandow. Tried Castle Combe but the car is too loud unfortunately... Seems they don't approve of the side exit ha!
April 2015: Day before Japfest i gave it a good 3rd gear pull up the dual and boom, smashed the RB20DET gearbox. It had been whining ever since i had it so it had a good innings. Ended up stripping 14 teeth off a cog Went back to the same scrapyard and picked up the 'time warp' RB25DET gearbox. Install went pretty well, had to fabricate custom mount and custom prop. Still haven't got round to modifying the speed sensor so i have permanent heavy steering, doh!
Bodywork has changed somewhat during my ownership. I aquired a GTR bootlid and N1 spoilers and also some super wide flared GTR front arches. Knackered myself with them a bit though, as now i can only run super wide wheels up front otherwise it looks silly.
Interior, i finished off the rollcage so now it's full rather than half, and fitted a Bride FIA kevlar bucket seat. Painted the inside blue aswell as it looked a bit tacky white.
I'll leave it at that really... Quite hard to create a thread when i've had the car for some time, but i hope you get the jist
Thanks!
