I've been building myself up to this for a couple of weeks and having sifted through them a few times I'm happy I've whittled it down to these few (dozen!) pictures.
As anybody who was there will know RRG is a weekend of old car hedonism, it never disappoints come rain or shine. Which was lucky on this occasion.
Massive props to the whole team, both seen and unseen, you've all done amazing work as ever.
Now, lets get on with some pictures...
Firstly we had to meet up with the thirsty morrisoxide behemoth, stealthstylz and penski for a very steady and trauma-free drive down.
Arrived on the camp, boshed up the tent then went for a little wander around.
Ballsy. It's not like T2s are renowned for their rustproofing.
Nothing at this end of the campsite was getting stuck if it rained, that was for sure.
I'd spotted this earlier at Hopwood services. A very cool combo with an old caravan in tow.
I could already see it was going to be an eclectic weekend.
Nice yank body mover.
Cafe racer done right.
Ageing like a fine wine.
Lot of love for this.
And this too, though, maybe a little too 'highboy' for me.
Well traveled MX5
This bug was so low it made me wince just thinking about it moving.
An aircraft carrier in size, style and colour.
Northern based Dolly with some purposeful editions.
You can't deny it, that is a good shape. Talking of which, I wonder where the Nightmare racing van is nowadays.
Apply lows. Win.
BBBBBBRAAAAPPPPPP!!
There were some visual treats on the campsite.
I mentioned it was eclectic didn't I?
Evil TA22
SleeperShite.
Colons Dirty pipes.
CampTAB delivered on the rare car front.
EmDee has crafted himself a lovely little Polo.
THAT beautiful Imp.
These Hillmans lend themselves to this subtle look. Do want.
Details details.
Heralding the triumphant return of blue 70s saloons everywhere!!
So, Saturday. Historically there is a scrappy run on the Saturday at RRG. last year was a great success seeing us arrive back a the camp with a motorbike and bits of MX5 sticking out of the back of the Volvo, however we had a feeling that 20 or so of us turning up in 4 or 5 cars wouldn't go down so well. Plus, some car would struggle down the access road. Mine very much included. Instead we tried a different place in Worcester, or tried to at least. I did however spot these in a carpark.
It was around this time we decided that any scrappy would be shut by now so we headed off to find fuel for both us and the car. That done it was back to camp to see what other treasured had turned up.
These next pictures are courtesy of the bed of the Tathauler.
Happy campers.
Dismounted from the truck I grabbed the long lens (fnar) and went for a stomp about. It was damn hot and sunny at this point and I unfortunately neglected to properly adjust the camera so these are all abit bright. Nevermind.
Remarkably modern looking Daihatsu
It's lighter than carbon.
Plenty of MX5s knocking about and a couple wore interesting kits.
That salty pickup again.
Cross-scene pollination
I'm sure fluffy dice were made with Mk3 Cortinas in mind...
Alleycats on old Fords are another winning formula.
Tigs mid-dance
BRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP. It really does sound as good as it looks.
Bloody nice S1.
M535i? Whatever, it is hard as nails.
RRC wheels are epic when rehomed. Love this.
Ever closer, ever harder.
Suprised face! Not as surprised as me upon seeing a Ponton.
Believe it or not, this was even greener in the metal. Superb.
I miss my E30 touring.
Something special arrived mid-afternoon.
Nice Nova is nice!
When your shirt matches your paint, you've won son.
Choice wheels though.
EmDee getting smoked out.
The daddies of turbocharged road cars. Which would you choose?
This had a happy rasp to it, decidedly fruity.
Drift-slag cabby with a traitorous heart.
Borderline frightening to look at.
Arty
I absolutely fell for this. Sometimes these kits can look abit gawky but not this.
Award winning S12
Clean Monza
Apt badging.
Cool stuff everywhere.
Dave and Vee discussing how to attach the stacks.
Wheels and drop will always improve everything.
Ever more rare metal.
Thugding great Ford. Do want.
Can't get my head around those rear windows, how is that better than just winding 2/3rds of the way down?
More 3 spoke love.
A brace of Imps.
So, is this static drop? It's blummin' lovely whatever the method of lows.
And it was around then that my picture taking was cut short due to this...
So that is your lot for Saturday, I'll get Sunday posted shortly...
