Hey Retro Rides. Had a lot of help off of here and met a few members. I have had this in a unit for a few weeks, would anyone be interested in a build thread? Would hate to bore people with something deemed uninteresting and dull. Anyway here is a photo. Plans are to go for an early track or competition focused early cooper but with a far more modern engine. I am hoping a 60's colour, 10" wheels, 1.8 16v motor on a 5 speed box. If there is any interest I will throw some more updates up, hoping to get it done as soon as possible. Hopefully I can put some more details up soon.

Is anyone interested in a Mini?
Are you serious?
There are cars - all sorts of cars - and then there are Minis.

You may have a problem passing tech. inspection on some tracks with your door X-bars, IIRC they cannot be butt-welded into an 'X'. The reason is a side collision can break the welds then you get stabbed with the roll cage bar. That might just be for actual racing from the MSA blue book now I'm thinking about it..
Go Mini race car!

Defiantly worthy of being here, it's in bits, needs copious amounts of work... old! What more does it need!

Thanks for a very welcoming response, in which case I'll try and give you some more details. I've owned minis for over then years now, that said I have never done anything on this scale. I do have a mk2 cooper but again it's nothing like this. This car came to me in an odd way, it was originally owned by a good friend of mine, he asked for some advice when he bought it, was it worth the money, anything to be worried about and from my brief look I gave him the thumbs up and said "if you don't buy it I will". So fast forward a while and he offered it to me at what he bought it for, whipped it up. I may have been slightly misleading here, I am by no means going to make something amazingly awesome here, I am going to try my best but no guarantees are made. I am not an amazingly talented welder or painted, mildly acceptable at best, so please don't hope for anything amazing. I have built quite a stockpile of parts over the years and I am planning to build this car up as cheaply as possible with parts I already have whilst also making it look semi-cool. Anyway. In response to some earlier replies. Re the door bars and the blue book. I hope to do some track days but I am not intending to do anything competitive. Just do some novice days and visit the ring along with some fast (within the legal constraints) road. If the door bars do pose a problem, they're easy enough to rectify. Re the engine. I have had a lot to do with Honda engines over the years and the B16/B18 just don't float my boat anymore. I do enjoy the B20, and K20, but the costs of these in comparison to other conversions available makes them fall the the bottom of my list at the minute. My other mini has a Nissan CG13 fitted, a conversion which at the time was overlooked in favour of other conversions, however the little CG13 was a cracking conversion and more people seem to be doing them. My plan is for a Vauxhall small block. I currently have an E16SE engine sat in the workshop ready to go in. I will be putting it on R1 bike carbs and running it on megajolt. The long term plan is to run an X18XE1 on carbs. My aim will be around 150bhp. Needed a valance So I put one on. I then seam sealed this from the inside and cleaned to floor up, added some under seal and all that. Am not overly keen on laying on the floor so I got the mobile car lift out. For now my main aim is to get the car rolling, I have stripped out the areas under the sun frames and under sealed these areas. I am hoping by Monday I can have the whole thing rolling and looking like an actual mini, rather than a scrap yard delinquent. Any comments, suggestions, constructive critisisms, advice or any other such input is warmly welcomed. Please excuse any spelling errors or gramarical balls ups, this has been posted from my bed, having just got home.

I'll be watching as I'll be putting my wife's 93 Italian Job back together soon! Would love to do some of the things you're doing but it's pretty rare so going to beretta standard (sounds wrong to complain about that.....)

Hopefully there will be something's of use to you in here. I understand your reasoning, my Mk2 cooper will have a top notch restoration.
On the basis of beretta, and my passion for the sport of shooting, have a look at this...

This is sounding better and better.
Massively jealous of the working space you've got. Working in a single garage at home isn't quite the same.
