Thanks for the replys As George had said good old dad got dragged into buying another revamp job Yes it’s an 1800 Diesel, body is very tidy Untidy interior , that’ll be all out first Board out the back properly then crack in with a longer term revamp Bit of movement on the fleet now to accommodate it This’ll be a joint rebuild by both of us We’re already arguing about the colour!

Much like George I got involved in cars at an early age and worked in the local bodyshop at weekends although they offered me an apprenticeship long before I left school I declined it in favour of taking an apprenticeship with a classic car restorer (which then meant doing a 50 mile round trip everyday) - it never did me any harm getting involved early on with motors - it's great to see George maintain such interest and getting actively involved - aided & abetted by dad ? well there's nothing wrong in that either !

My laddie of a similar age has been showing an interest in fixing my cars as well. Just done his 2nd and 3rd oil change today, but he always goes missing! On the Escort van, when i had my Focus TDCi, i couldnt help but wonder if that engine would go in an Escort, Sierra or Mondeo. Instant 25bhp upgrade for a weekends work if its an easy fit? All the best, Geoff.

With the van nearly complete and George now 17 months away from getting a provisional licence We’ve started looking at mk2 or mk3 fiestas for him to lightly modify ready for use as a first legal drive So the estate may be for sale I'm totally unsure what it would make possibly around £1200?? Any thoughts please?

I have no idea about the value of your car but 1200 GBP = about $2100. I would not hesitate in getting that. I bought a 210cm long sheet of MDF yesterday. Try to fit that in my cars? Doesn't fit the BMW, doesn't fit the Merc. It did got it in my friends Fiesta.... Seriously thinking of buying an estate/station wagon

If it's rust-free and with a full MOT it should see £1500 I would have thought.

Saw one of these on the road yesterday, in excellent condition, I owned a petrol version that covered 178,000 miles before finally giving up the ghost, I had forgotten how good the estate looked until I saw this thread. It was a brilliant workhorse over the twelve or so years that I owned it until it finally succumbed to the god of rust, the top side looked good but the underside was extremely frilly despite regular hosing, mainly due to a maritime climate and a daily commute on over salted roads.
