Hello all, I am new to this site but have been a classic enthusiast for many years having owned various Rovers, Granadas and a Jensen Interceptor.
I am now looking for the one car I craved many years ago-a Vauxhall Royale. I know they are fairly rare(!) but are there any parts which are made of unobtainium for these.
Any other advice regarding a Royale would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Steve

Hello and welcome.
Prepare for rust, look for it everywhere, pay special attention around the windscreen, inner wings and turrets and make sure you look from above and below. Sills, rear end, front, back, top and both sides.
Trim can be a bit tricky.
You aiming for a Royale saloon or coupe?
Good luck. There have been a few about recently.

Thanks Phil, There ia a saloon and a coupe on the bay at the moment. The coupe has a 3 litre injected engine and 4 speed auto box from a Monza fitted up for £999. It's the colour I like - metallic blue but needs a bit of work. The saloon is a gold 2.8 which doesn't look too bad in the photos- but has been off the road for quite a while. Will try and have a look at one or both on Saturday.
I would really like the same era Senator 3.0- I have a copy of Motor from1980 where they have a T reg Senator on long term test- in metallic blue as well-I can but wish!
Many thanks again,
Steve

The 4 speed and a 3.0 makes a world of difference. Particular the 4 speed bit. The 3 speed is not great.
Hope you find the right car. There aren't that many about anymore. They are a great bargain if you're not afraid to put in some effort.

Lovely wedge-shape Opel senator for sale at the moment, saw it on a classic car classifieds last night. 2.5 litre, gold of course, i'd love it.

Yes nice looking.
I still fancy the coupe on the bay though-needs a bit of work but could end up a nice car.

Ha ha, i slammed the boot down and the rear bumper dropped off! There was rust hiding everywhere. Everytime you closed a door something else dropped off it lol I've got to say though, what a great looking car they are.

Morning all,
Just an update. Seems the Royale coupe has fallen through. There is a Royale saloon in gold on the bay-will have a look at that.

Phil, What are mechanical parts availability like for these?
If it has been in a garage for a number of year it may need pads, brake discs, caliper rebuild etc-are these available.
Also what about exhaust bits?
Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve, availability is ok for mechanical service bits etc, discs could take a bit more searching as if I remember correctly the early cars had a larger front hub than the later ones, that said they are out there if you look hard enough same for the brake callipers or you could just send them away for a rebuild. ( big red ) or similar. Exhaust part are few and far between and quite expensive when they do surface. eBay.de has lots more parts than GB. Derek at GM6 will be able to help with any second hand parts.

Yes, all of that. Seek and ye shall find. Some motor factors will still be helpful too, especially if it means clearing out all the old stuff that no one buys. Otherwise it's ebay.de as suggested.
