funny you should say that, colin furze is the exact reason behind the jet powering fascination . i'm after a fire extinguisher at the moment to use as a combustion chamber for a pulse jet. the rest of the tubing is already in place so once ive got me a suitable extinguisher ill get it welded onto the rest of the pipework thats already fitted. ill run it (optimistic as ever) on a small propane bottle mounted on the front forks. if it all goes well i'll look at making a turbo jet versioned one too afterwards. i'll also look into what coatings are available for it too as i'd ideally like it as close to brass coloured as possible.theres nothing that will be affected by a coating either and the right hand side of the pipework will have a sleeved end so i can remove it if i need to take the rear wheel off and the axle needs removing.

thanks omega found these brackets in a box of "stashed stuff" yesterday.they're left over from the rat rod project I'm doing with my son as the wider rear wheels fouled the radius arms. 1" spacers made these rear arm supports spare so its all good for the scavenging i'll turn them around and use them to mount a seat post on. really want and old tractor style seat for this so will trawl ebay later. found an old inspection lamp too but the shade was too long in my opinion so i took the grill off and offerred it up the current lamp.was a perfect fit. i'll keep my eye out for some old metal cases to make a pair of panniers as well, failing that i may just cut a pair of oil cans in half and hinge em and use them instead

I'm liking this project, especially with the mention of a pulse jet - that's on my list of things to make and attach to something. I would be wary of those wheels, unless you've uprated the bearings, I've found they don't take a great deal of abuse before failing.
Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.....

Cool project, but i'd hesitate to call it steam punk. It's more like diesel or atompunk. Pedantic, but still a cool project.

thanks chrisT,hadnt given the wheels much thought so will drop em out further along the line for an inspection. the pulse jet plan has been on the back burner since i saw one built on scrapheap challenge years ago. saw it, heard it and then immediatley needed it. not a fan of the glowing orange metal but i'll heat wrap the main "orange prone" areas.
sciclone, dammit...............you made me google. never realised how many variansts of "punk" there were. while looking through the search results i did pick up loads of good ideas so i'll be trawling through ebay later
still need to get hold of a gas bottle or ,fire extinguisher or empty catytic converter to make the combustion chamber out of though and its proving a bit of a pain to say the least. messers on ebay don't help much either
want to find a heat proof brass coloured coating for the whole scooter too. ww2 battery lamp arrived yesterday but didnt fit through the letterbox so i'll be grabbing that on the way home later today.

painted the dash panel, quick £1 shop black gloss and then a dusting of the same but in white. the stuff there is poor quality so it gave a speckle effect when falling which was ideal. ive done it before on other stuff so had spare used cans laying around. got some gold from aldi yesterday on the way home for £2.99 so things are still costing very little. sprayed it on the 38 morris 8 bootlid ive got here which was at a nice height wasnt happy with the mixed washers around the toggle switches so got a matching set and drilled out the holes to suit and sprayed em my favourite colour ,honda r81-milano red as per my old crx del sol

Where in the country do you live Mr?
I may have a few bits for you that you could consider adding to the build.
Let me know.
