No that has in fact gone, been flattened and houses put there. That cramped it makes me nervous just looking at it.
Yeah please do, I'll be driving around it something stupidly awful I'm sure.

Ha-ha, does that mean you felt less nervous when you had a Police Station next door ? I still remember it when it was open when you had a problem - not just open during office hours !!

I was in the pub the other night and someone mentioned that this meet is no more, is that right? From what I understand the venue has refused to be of use in future........ Not sure if I can blame anyone, but the Corsa/Saxo/Knobheads used to race about the one corner and when leaving would be d1cks. So it has been spoiled for the majority as usual. And because nobody can give then a running fact slap to the side of the head, as should be done for being kn0bs with cars in a public car park (this is not a racetrack) the venue has withdrawn permission. It is a real pity as we had over 100 cars and up to 50 bike regularly. It would be awesome if someone could find another venue where people who are a it more considerate could gather to talk and walk cars.

Oh dear so it is true its a real shame for the people who just want to show there cars and have a chat, once again we will have to find somewhere else to meet, so how about at the Dutch house pub just off the A20 in SE12, say every last Tuesday of the month, there is already a club who go there every Tuesday and has plenty of free parking in the pub car park. If there is enough interest i will speak to the pub manager about it? retrorides.proboards.com/thread/186902/dutch-house-street?page=1&scrollTo=2177299

Gosh, we used to go to the Dutch House in the late '80s. Winston Sewell was a regular there. It was well behaved and a great selection of serious cars always present. There was even a quad cam Alfa V8 engined Dutton Phaeton!

There is a meeting every Thursday in a very close proximity to dockside with the BHRA at the Robin Hood at the top of bluebell hill. All a nice bunch of guys.
EDIT
Winston also attends the above event.

I live in the Maidstone area, but I lived in Snodland from birth and lived in Walderslade and Upper Halling for a few years before.Yeah its a shame that meets often slowly turn into a chav-magnet,and spoil it for everyone else.Saying that,I used to spend many a Saturday night or more at the Bridge in Maidstone in the late Eighties/early nineties or so,in various MK2 Escorts of differing states of modification, and yes I did partake in many 'challenges' around the town circuit when it was the old one way system up round the bend past the old Warehouse nightclub etc,so I do have skeleton or two in the closet from my youth;but just constant standing burnouts and hanbrake turns in silly cars with loud stereos wasnt my bag,and it does get on my wick when people like that turn up.It got to the point when the Bridge meets were rather notorious and you started getting herberts in what were obviously stolen cars flying round the car park near other peoples cars, they even managed to roll over an old Datsun 180b as i remember, and that was it for me.Plus the fact I was getting pulled over by the police regularly because of the cars i drove and the vicinity in which i was seen, they were always taking down registrations of cars (this was pre- ANPR remember).I even had them knock on my door one morning asking questions about certain shady characters that were appearing down there, what the hell. That was it for me.Apparently there is a Bridge meet goes on these days but its organised with people in hi vis with a police presence,so I'm told but i havent bothered having a look.that was an awful long time ago now,I'm 44 with two granddaughters FFS!Holy moly.

The same thing happened to the old lakeside meet in Essex, ruined by knuckledraggers ,but that's the way most meets have gone over the years, personally nothing will ever beat Chelsea cruise back in the day

Blimey, Sherv. We may even have met in the dim distant years gone by. I used to get there on my bike quite a lot at this time too. Seem to remember it got quite busy about pub chucking out time. There were a lot of bullshitters around though, & i got fed up with these pratts carrying on, trying to out boast each other. There was not a huge Police presence if i remember - unless i missed the good bits !!
