Hi guys, just thought I'd share the news that the old Carlton (along with the Grifter) have made it to print and to the shelves in This months Practical Classics magazine. They approached me in February after seeing my restoration on Detailing World and wanted to do a 'Reader's Restoration' article on the car, to which I duly obliged. We set up a meeting for a photo shoot in late June in which the journalist and photographer came to my house to do the interview and shots in my garage and then on to some motion tracking shots on a local B road. As soon as the photographer stepped into the garage and clocked the Grifter he said he had to get some shots of it too, so both my projects got into the magazine at the same time, bonus!! I then got an email from the magazine's editor saying that he wanted the Gsi on the front cover along with a guy who had just restored an Alfa Montreal, so I drove down in the Carlton to Suffolk (300 mile round trip-which the old girl took in her stride) for another shoot on a country road with the Alfa, so it made it on the front page of the mag too. Anyway, here's the pages of the magazine (scanned from the magazine so there's a few ripples on the pages but you get the idea)

Congrats on getting a cool car noticed and published.
I love it when they discover other stuff like the Grifter and have to add it in.
I have had a few cars, including my dads old Mini Clubman in print, he was berry pleased as he had not known I had sent it in to MiniWorld at the time.
I hope to get the truck in print one day when it is done.

That's great - the car and the article - a suitable tribute to your efforts. Is 'Big Jim' still around to admire the transformation?

Hope you too get yours in print when it's done.

'Big Jim' has seen the car and has opened his check book to me, alas I deemed his offer of buying it back as 'insufficient'... ....also, I've grown rather fond of the old girl now

Nice work, getting something into print is a feeling a million times better than internet fame Especially when the world of print magazines will surely disappear in our lifetime.

My sentiments exactly, It's nice to actually have a tangible article, something I can keep and pass down a generation.
Thanks mate, Yeah I'm really pleased it's gone in PC as it's the magazine I was buying throughout the resto of the Gsi.
Thanks PistonPopper, I'm really pleased too.
Thanks mate, I've noticed they're rising in price and gaining more recognition recently, hopefully this article will help the reputation of the rest of them tat are still out there.
