I'd suggest your phone has got something nasty... only problem is I have no idea how to fix things without cogs. Try the local independent mobile phone shop for advice?

I'd suggest downloading a virus scan app like CMsecurity. Its good and the best bit is its free That'll tell you if you have a virus or other nastys hidden away. I usually browse the forum with tapatalk app and haven't had a problem there yet, other than occasional pictures not loading up. Maybe try these out and go from there

Thanks for the replies. After looking into the kinds of URLs I was getting it seems other websites/forums have this issue too. Looks like advertising networks are allowed to inject bits of code into their ads that cause pop-ups or redirects, and some networks abuse this ability to do fairly innocent things like send you to the Apple App store (which clearly doesn't work on my Android phone) or more worrying things like install browser extensions or other dodgy software. I've just had another redirect to a completely different URL which was trying to flog an app: www.mobi-tips.com/tools/aliexpress/uk/index.php#Looks like this could be down to ProBoards not monitoring the advertising networks strictly enough. Updated my phone's anti virus software to be on the safe side!

Curiously, MrsSE and I are both getting frequent redirects when browsing RR, no other sites. Both using Chrome on Samsung phones... hs there been a recent new ad change?

How much would it cost to go advert free? I, for one, would be willing to support the forum with a small annual fee (voluntary) to get rid of the curse of advertising.

The problem isn't the advertising assuch it is that some ad-networks are less stringent about their content.
To be honest, if I paid for the site to be 'ad free' it would be to replace the default Proboards ads with my own choice of provider and hope to regain the cost of being 'ad free'...

I'm finding the forum suddenly unusable on iPhone, but fine on a PC. I get redirected to ad sites and the back button just takes you to more ad sites. I'll do some digging, but it doesn't seem to happen on any other site, so far...
My safari settings are to block pop-ups, but this isn't a pop-up. it's a complete redirect.
A quick google of 'Proboards adware problem mobile browser' brings up a couple of recent results, but not hundreds.

I've had the same all day as well. I alerted Hotwire to it earlier by Facebook as it was that bad I couldn't get on here. Constant redirects to ad sites and opening the App Store a lot as well. It was iPhone use also. I'm still on my phone now but through my wireless network at home and the problem has disappeared- presumably my home firewall filtering it out?

Just tried this - mine is ok on the home network too. Just a problem on 3G. Vodafone in my case. I wonder if it's network specific, or if people on other networks are having the same problem.

I get redirected to offerland-website when I click on threads on here using chrome on my Android. Won't let me hit back button so need to retype website address to get back to rr. Very annoying. Started happening approx 2 days ago.

Started happening approx 2 days ago. Seams to have fixed itself when I came back home. Problems were on a network in an appartment in France. My home network looks to be okay

I constantly get redirected on my phone whilst browsing the mobile version, usually to fake 'your phone is infected' sites replescent with vibrating alert, which you can't "Go Back" from. The only alternative is to shut down my browser and restart it, otherwise it loads back into that page again.
It only happens on RR, and it's not my phone as I've scanned it repeatedly for virus' and malware.

Plans are afoot to try and mitigate these things. I've held off doing anything as we're supposed to be getting a new version of proboards, but like most software projects it is a bit delayed (was supposed to launch in Feb/March!). Once Gathering is out the way I should be able to do some more on the forum stuff.

I've been getting this occasionally using safari on my macbook pro. Can't use the back button either I have to manually take the browser back to the site by typing in the URL manually anything else just redirects straight back to the adds to.
