Mine isn't a JCW but it does now have a large front mount and some intake stuff done to it.
i would recommend trying one just so you have the option.
I am 6'3 and i fit in it more comfortably than i did in my MG ZT which shocked me.
The T-sport and EP3 where 2 of my other choices along side the first of the 5 cylinder focus ST's, a clio 192, Golf GTi's and the Mazda MPS range.
I have owned an EU8 civic which is the EP3 shape 4 door with the slightly less exciting k20 and it was fun but it felt very family car.
The t-sport was awesome in N/A flavour very revvy but i couldn't not have a compressor when i found out about them and i found the Mini before i found one i wanted.
The ST was an awesome machine but it felt like a boring everyday standard focus to be inside and my god did it feel cheap. The noise nearly made up for it but the interior and the fuel consumption (Probably not an issue after owning an RX7.) really put me off when compared with the mini which is almost like a little luxury car inside. Cam belt on this was a worry for me just because i'm getting lazy in my old age...
The clio would be an absolute riot on track and if you like driving like a hooligan i imagine it would be okay on the road but my god did you have to give it hell everywhere! would not move until the rev limiter was way past vertical and then it punched you in the back of the head and sent you towards to horizon. Plus the one i looked at was getting near cam belt and dephaser time.
A little bit out there but anything Mazda with an MPS badge, these things are terrifying! The 6 i drove was a monster, 4wd and 250bhp standard it wasn't the best example and i couldn't find another for sale but that is what i really wanted, the 3 is even more lethal same engine but lighter, these seem to hold there money more though, big tuning base and 300 bhp with just a remap!!! Very very very hard to keep in a straight line. Huge grin factor and leaving an M3 at the lights in a hatch back is very verrrryyyy fun.
Golf GTi, yeah there fine, bit bland very competent cars but nothing to get overly excited about. Liked driving it, wouldn't want to own one. Brother in law has one with an induction kit and remap and that is a little more fun but still wouldn't own one.
Seems like your in the same boat as i was. It was a fun few weeks trying to pick one!
