Hi all, Bit of a weird one... I want to buy this radiator: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121275304666?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITBut: to fit in my application it would need to be upside down for the outlets to line up. That puts the threaded cap (which I assume is for filling) at the bottom. My current rad has a drain plug at the bottom so I'd use the new rads 'filler' for that. My system is filled via an expansion tank so the rest of its fine. My question is are rads designed for water to flow/cool a specific way or does it not matter what way round it goes? Any pointers appreciated. Thanks.

The "threaded cap" appears to be a bleed screw?
You may be able to mount some rads upside down but that particular one has a bleed pipe which wouldn't work if it was at the bottom.

Ideal then - and you'll have a drain plug

Hi, Why do you want to turn it upside down, is it to put the oil cooler on the other side? If so why not just run the cooler pipes across? Having said that it shows the oil cooler unions there's no mention in the text.

I've had an upside down rad in my Dolly for about 4 years, maybe more. In my case it was to get the outlets into the (relatively) correct position. Not had any ill effects as yet.

With that one it wouldnt matter which way around it was as the inlet and outlet would still be in the same position. Its only if the oil cooler is needed on one specific side.

i thought the threaded bungs were to take a temp sensor or similar? my current oil cooler has no link to my current radiator....

Most sensors have a fine thread to them and are female in the radiator, the ones in the pictures are coarse and as such denote (to me) that they are for an oil cooler that is built into the head of that part of the radiator, hence they are male and protrude from the radiator. It will definitely be worth contacting the company before to make sure you get the correct radiator for your application, or you could get that one and have provision for an alternative oil cooler for the future.
