Apologies if this breaks the rules a bit.. the cars posted below aren't retro in some cases, but they've all firmly got their roots in older machinery, so I hope this one can run a bit. 1996 Hindustan Ambassador. (Morris Oxford)  Hyundai Stellar (Cortina MKV)  The MG ZR (Rover 200) (I've got one of these, drives like an old 80's hatchback, it's great)  The MG ZS (Rover 400) ![http://www.nicarfinder.co.uk/processed/images/review-images/1674/586-392---mgroverzs.jpg]() Proton Wira (Mitsubushi Lancer), I've got one of these too, it's not fun, but it works.. Lotus elan became the KIA elan, also the mk2 astra became something Korean. It's not only the old Morris that carried on in India, I think there's the Suzuki sj, Vauxhall ventora, 4 door triumph herald, rover sd1, rover montego, plus some other mix and match bitzas, I believe the Tata pickup used replica Mercedes 190 wings and bonnet as well as an old Peugeot motor. Ttfn Glenn Forgot the mahindra, remake of the jeep. Just found out, the rare atlas van that is a readers ride elsewhere on this forum, was manufactured in India until 1980 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_Atlas |

The Hillman Hunter was produced in Iran as the Paykan up until 2002: My first ever job in I think 2002 was working in a factory in Telford making fuel pipes for these, to be exported to Iran. The other thing I did there was assemble brake fluid reservoirs for Rolls Royces. |

fiat 124 to lada riva. except thats now retro as well.....
i suppose VW sort of did some of this as well, in that they carried on certain bits of the mk2 golf platform right up until the 6n2 polo and the lupo.

They did their classic trick of making it worse with every iteration too Good old VW. Design one vehicle, and build 7 different cars out of it. |

to be pedantic, daewoo version of the mk2 astra existed at the same time as a mk2 astra (in the form of Chevrolet kadett, pontiac lemans etc) but just carried over the underpinnings to the later kadetts, nexia, ceilo, racer etc.
