i`d been wanting 1 of these for a long while now (much to my partners disgust) and have had `V8 block` saved in ebay searches for years and other than a few boat anchors (rover v8) and some massively overpriced italian exotica not much had come along.... then.. by a strange turn of fate i got lucky: i wont lie... i got very very very lucky.. what we have here is a genuine ex lemans 24h gt3 used and abused Aston Martin V12... i already have a glass top from an old coffee table and the plan is to have a nice beech base made up by a local carpenter (approx 1200x450x40mm (when i spoke to him he mentioned making it up out of 3 hefty boards fixed together) with a small bevelled edge top and bottom.. That was until i got drunk and went onto ebay... And for the hefty sum of £48 i got this: So, i got the laser cutter at work to chop out 2 8mm thick stainless plates out that bolted to the block.. then made 4 'stilts' to link that to the Argos coffee table top i had in the loft.. Finally, another ebay mission scored 3meters of colour changing LED ribbon which was hidden deep inside the block:

I do also have 12.. well.. 11 1/2 pistons for it Forgot to say, i also had a cabinet maker router out 8 holes on the underside for these: Just to keep it mobile and low enough to prevent any toys getting lost under it..

I must admit when i started planning this the missus was a bit sceptical to say the least..
In the end i waited for her to go out and fetched it out the garage basing a full victory on the fact she cant lift it to remove it...
The initial reaction was, as expected, frosty!! but a few of her friends commented how cool it was and the tide has slowly swung in my favour..
I'm often plucking toy cars out of the bores which the boy finds amusing but its a small price to pay...

Outstanding! Cool and educational for your little spanner monkey ? I'm still working on YOB (an affectionate name - long story -short... missus buys B O Y wall plaques while pregnant, i take every opportunity to rearrange the letters, eventually she cracks and gives up.. YOB is born...) He loves to wave a screwdriver at any job i'm doing so he's getting the hang of it...
