Last weekend me and some friends (of which some are a member here, like Berendd (with his Swift), Dennismo (with his Celica) and Jonkheer (with his 318i Baur) went to Germany, to visit the ADAC Historical Rally in Daun on saturday and the Bergrennen on Sunday in Homburg. The rally in Daun was for a championship with newer cars, but there was a special Youngtimer trophy and also a Group B 'trophy'. Prepare for a lot of pics On friday we drove to the area where the rally was. The cars: Stopped late in a nearby village to camp, next day, the last few km's to the rally: An Audi Quattro spotted: and another one: we saw about 10-15 different street Quattro's that day Then it was time to get the programm and the passes for the day and some wandering in the paddock: Stratos: Nissan 240RS R5 Maxi Turbo: Metro 6R4: On the way to the first stage, a nice Lancia HPE spotted! The first rally stage, after a while, we found a great place ;D A nice X-pack RS2000 spotted, on the parking lot: And an Opel Record: On the way to the next stage, another guy joined us for the day, with his very nice Kadett with 2.2 engine Next stage: Ford Anglia doing very well BMW 2002: Nice ass And again, nice ass Peugeot 104 ZS Rheila Golf: Then onto the next stage: 6R4: Quattro: Very nice Toyota Celica TA64 (i specially came for this car ;D) BBQ'ing on a nice green lawn (which seemed to be someones backgarden ;D ) In the evening we drove to the area of Homburg, where the Bergrennen was, but that's for the next post

we camped in a remote field, alongside an even more remote road, in an even more remote area, because we arrived around 0:30, so no camping was open anymore. Then it was a small distance to Homburg, where the Bergrennen was. Wandering around in the paddock: Goggomobil (300cc 2 stroke with 46 bhp!! :o_ Samba Rally: Audi 50: Polo Steilheck: Another Audi 50: Nice Kadett: Serious E21: Another nice Kadett: NSU TT on the uphill: Another NSU TT (i've got exactly this one as scale model, so that was cool to see it IRL ;D) Fiat 127 Sport: Very nice looking Cinquecento, it went very well too! Fiesta MK1 BDA: Fiat X1/9 VW Polo 16V Scirocco: Then we went to another spot, nice action, little less easy to make pics Kadett: And another one: Escort MK1: Nice BMW: Golf 1 16V: Mercedes 190E, which had a Judd V8 in it: Another nice Audi 50: Escort MK2: The goggomobil again. I loved it to bits, with it's tiny wheels ;D Nice NSU TT: Alfa Romeo Guilia Super: and some other NSU's (there where LOT's of them): Nice Renner 5 Turbo2 alongside the road: Kadett Station: And the last one, a VERY nice Kadett with Spiess (look?) wheels I'm uploading some movies, so they will come

Great stuff, thanks for the pictures.
Couldn´t make it this year but it´s definately worth a visit, even if you have to come over from the UK.
How about doing a RR Weekend trip over next year...that would be one hell of a convoy!

here's a small selection of my photo's. No, I'm not uploading all the 380 remaining photo's!! Driving to the camping, at 22.30 my exhaustrubber snapped, so a quik pitstop in the middle of nowhere was nessesery (you know which word I mean!). The morning after at the camping At parc fermé during the Group B challenge. My favorite, the Nissan 240rs! Another favorite, the Toyota Celica TA64! How 'bout a Quattro? At the stages: More 240rs! More ta64! What a look, what a sound! Nice Golf! How can you not like this Renault? Nice shot, if I may say so myself Wish I had this Lancia Nice Escort Even the Ascona was present! This bloke was pushing his Alfa like no other! Time for the backyard BBQ Pitstop during the race to the Hillclimb. Just woken up after a night of wild camping. A walk through the pitfield. R8! Extreme Polo! one of the many great TT's Nice audi Little fiat bloody nice Escort at the start! yes, this corrado was given a fat OK by me! Another fast and nice sounding fiat! Something yellow that was very cool! NSU in action! No, it wasnt that steep. Fiat X1/9 The walk back to our own cars. The final stop before racing home with a average speed of about 160km/h. (note that the leading car was a Suzuki Switf 1.3 GL from 1987 or so )

I've seen a bunch of people overhauling a complete wreck in 60 minutes on TV, so why can't I do it in 3 weeks?

Hi there, one of the berg cup hillclimb events is on my to do lists, i really want to see Bruno Ianello in his Delta S4 (when hes fixed it after his little altercation with the barriers ) Do you have any more details about that polo with the honda cylinder head? A friend of mine has a Mk1 golf in a kind of berg cup style, hes going to megasquirt it and he wants a 16v head to fit his 1300. Any more details will be much appreciated! J
