I know adverts are one of the ways this excellent website is kept free, but recently I've started getting annoying video adverts playing automatically with full sound, even when I'm no-where near said advert on the page. This is embarrassing for those of us having a sneaky look at some cool cars whilst at work. Suddenly an advert for pampers or something starts blaring through the computer speakers with no warning, and no way to stop it other than killing the sound on the computer.
This only started a few days ago, has there been a change in the settings or something? Or is it just me experiencing this?

I am having this problem and its bloody annoying trying to read some threads while listening to music and I have to click on the video to open the advert just to stop the sound every time I click a new page. There has to be some way to stop this

Hi, I use Adblock plus so my question is - What adverts? Seriously though I think this needs to be directed to Proboards by Admin because at the top of the page where there's a banner ad it has this-
"Please consider supporting this website by disabling your ad-blocker. This website does not use audio ads, popups, or other annoyances. Thank you!"
So clearly one thing is being said and another is happening.

Hey folks, I've not had them... but I'll report to proboards admin as we shouldn't have adverts with sounds on them... it is obnoxious.
I've got a possible way to remove the ads... but it would mean referral links in text in order to pay for it, which I'm never really happy about.

Cheers Hotwire, I thought they'd passed, but I'm still getting them, endless adverts for Carling today... The offending ad space is the square one bottom right

The offending ad space is the square one bottom right Ditto - never had a problem until today - a flippin ad for Halifax keeps coming up with full sound in the bottom right corner. I know adverts help pay for the site, but I've installed Adblocker for the first time ever just to shut the damn thing up!

Also got a problem with this bloody halifax advert!
On some threads its easy to scroll down to the bottom and shut it up, but on longer pages it simply means I have to click the back button.
Its fine at home, but when I'm in work, the computer is linked up to a sound system, the ad is always louder than the music playing!

Every time I open a new page on the forum, when browsing on my phone, the Android 'Boomsound' logo appears in my top bar indicating that a sound is playing, even though there's nothing actually playing because I have an AdBlocker, so something is trying to play sound!

i have to say HoTWire the last couple months the plugin container associated with the flash adverts at the top adn bottom of each page has been accumulating to nearly a gigabyte of ram after about half hour browsing threads. its getting to the point the mouse scroll is lagging when scrolling down page !! i have to start up task manager to kill the process to ease the pain. i vowed never to install an ad blocker because i respected the cause and was trying to take it on the chin. but its getting unbearable !!

Yup darrenh I'm with you on that. I've got a few bits and pieces to do but high on my list is talking to proboards to do something with the ads.
