Cool!
But if it is a Swedish import, it should have had a 2.0 Pinto from the start. The V6 Taunuses were dropped in 1976 due to our emission rules... As a Swedish specced car, it should also have heated front seats.
I really like the Ghia interior...soo nice. I used to have a 1982 2.0 L V.I.P. (Swedish spec that I think had no real extras apart from perhaps tinted glass and the heated seats), but the Ghia was always on top of the wish list.

Oooh well that's interesting, It definitely had a 2.0 V6 in it and it has headlight washers which were standard for the ghia in scandinavia, so maybe it originated in a different country? How are the heated seats switched on? I can't see anywhere for extra switches unless it'd be under the dash on the left where the brake test light is.

Could perhaps be Norway...or Denmark but I think Ghia Taunuses were extremely unusal there. However, someone might have swapped in a 2.0 V6 in it in Sweden too. The VIN plate should give out the original fitment engine. Also, a Swedish car should have had some emissions decals in the engine compartment but they can be removed too of course.
The switches for the heated seats were on the sides of the centre console, the vertical part sort of below the dash. Quite small rocker switches.

Gustaf

That looks lovely, a friend had a 2.3 V6 Ghia Taunus many years ago. It was such a great car to drive, sounded amazing on song, and actually went pretty well too! I had a 1.6 at the time so traffic light derby's were a bit one sided

I used to own lhd 2.0 V6 Capri sounded great but was gutless a good pinto would leave it for dead. That was originally from somewhere like Sweden as well can't remember exactly where from now,be prepared to look stupid every time you get in the wrong door and realise there's no steering wheel in front of you.

That's a hilariously small V6. Also, the biggest travesty is that it appears someone in your neighborhood has bought a Fiat 500L.

That's a hilariously small V6. Also, the biggest travesty is that it appears someone in your neighborhood has bought a Fiat 500L. Well yeah, it's got a 2.3 fitted, but yeah. We don't get big engines really Might end up with a 2.9 eventually. Even worse it has siamese exhaust ports so looks like a big V4. Single exit exhaust too so sounds disappointing too. Chop the exhausts just after the middle silencers and fit twin side exits maybe? Cant you just reverse through macdonalds? I'm actually thinking I might do that Looks great, love the choice of wheels. Thanks, they came on it but they're what I'd fit anyway so win win

Cant you just reverse through macdonalds? Have done this with a RHD car here. They yell at you at first then they just think you're an idiot.

I apologise about all the beauty shots, I'll get round so some good ol fashined wrenching soon! I just spent the past 3 days cleaning it. I think it was stored in a bodyshop, so caked in dirt. Spent a good 4 hours cleaning then polishing then waxing it today. There's a few little niggles; Brakes - There are none. at all. Reservoir is full of fluid, but pedal goes straight to the floor. I guess I'll just do a full rebuild anyway for peace of mind. Oil pressure light - flickers when idling, goes out at higher revs. It's a little low on oil so I'm hoping a top up and maybe a new oil pressure switch will sort that out? Ignition gubbins - I always do this when I get something as they're all so cheap and easy to do. I think it's got a bit of a misfire as it's got an irregular drum beat. So points, condenser, rotor arm, dizzy cap, leads, plugs, coil too for good measure. Exhaust. It's rotten. blowing from a few places. Replacement needed. But I hate to buy a new standard exhaust when I want a twin exit. I might get crafty with the welder, maybe This is why I need a tig welder!

Nice, and the origin is now sorted :-) Does it (still?) have the catalytic converter?
My old Granada Coupé with a 2.3 and single exit system sounded quite nice, you may just need a bigger bore system to bring on the V6 music.

Your car looks great, I love it and it looks so immaculate. It's strange seeing the "Taunus" badge on what was the Cortina over here. There's an old chap near to where I live with a Dark grey over light grey Cortina (Crusader)? that I see driving around occasionally in good weather, it really does stand out when it's out and about.
Looking forward to more updates on your Taunus !
