Hey folks,
I have a blaupunkt head unit in my MX5 which will repeatedly turn on and off in cold weather until it has presumably warmed up then it works as it should. In much warmer weather this does not happen at all.
Is this most likely a faulty head unit? Is it repairable? Can't find any other problems with the wiring, it's uncut and using an adapter loom.
Cheers, Lewis

Could be condensation inside it? How about lifting the cover off and sticking a couple of bags of silica gel inside there!

More likely a dry joint somewhere that expands just enough to make contact as it heats up. When it won't turn on try tapping it lightly. If that doesn't show anything up I'd take the stereo out when it won't turn on (couple of seconds work) and check that it actually has a power feed present. At least you could then ascertain whether it is a problem with the head unit or the wiring.
