My Moggie takes its share of daily driving duties for shorter runs - I think it's done 3000-4000 miles this year including being used as a learner driver car. I paid just over £500 for a scruffy MOTd one with head gasket failure - a new head gasket only taking a couple of hours to fit even if you take your time! So far, it's been surprisingly reliable. It's also far too entertaining to drive, even while being completely standard. Not quick, but the handling is very predictable and quite fun.

Just noticed this on the Gumtree at a very reasonable £5,225, (Manchester). It has a more modern 5-sp box, doesn't say if disc conversion done; Morris Minor convertible

There is an older pakistan gentleman that uses his old black moggie every day and he goes from the southside of glasgow to out livingston way with it. All motorway but he tootles along no problem. Looks very clean , I have seen it in all weathers including snow. So I guess its suitable for a daily driver.

Well now you've all got me looking at Moggies and it's at least 8 months before new/old car moving on time. Maybe I should get off of here and get on with my day.

When I had mine as a daily driver it was surprisingly torquey and capable in traffic. Everyone's dad had one so you tend to get treated with respect. I'd second the rustproofing comment above. It was the fact I could see the car deteriorating and I didn't have the money at the time to spend on it that made me replace it. It was still completely reliable despite being a £800 scrapyard dodger. The next owner fully restored it, which was good.
