Llewelyn_, many thanks for the kind words regarding the car. There is something about them eh? As for the steering wheel, yes, I probably will get rid of it. It comes complete with the boss and horn push .

There is nothing much to report here!
Besides checking the diagnostic LED readouts which are reading no codes I have just been piling on the miles!
I eventually got an NTK lambda sensor and threw that in after extending the wiring harness. It may be a placebo but the car does seem to be running the best it ever has done, pulling better beyond 4kRPM. I have yet to check the MPG but the reading does seem to have gone higher from an average of 31-33MPG.
It was MOT time where it failed on a balljoint boot being split and 1 washer jet not working out of the 4. I cannot really complain about this! With that all sorted it is time to have the wind in the hair and enjoy a few more outings out.
Are there plans? Definitely? These include to:
-Raise the car ; some 'mound' speed bumps will kiss the exhaust and some will hit the chassis legs if I am not super slow going over them. But it looks so coo1! -Quieten the exhaust. It is quite loud! I am going to sling in a cat (if I can find one secondhead!) and see what happens there.
Oh, and maybe give it a clean.

mine is fairly low and catches on the horrible square speed bumps, but i had my suspension set up by a mx5 specialist and it handles great so it's staying at this height.

This is precisely my problem. It's been setup and it is superb in the bends! But it is on the inpractical side of lowness! Anyway, more news. As previously mentioned it failed the MOT on a failed balljoint boot. With that in mind I changed it with a genuine Mazda item. Now to celebrate with some pics: Firstly, I put the car up in the air. Woohoo! Yes, I drove one wheel onto the ramp so as to put the jack underneath it!: The staple diet of the weekend mechanic. Haynes; check, tools check, hammer, CHECK! Yup, that boot was pretty much toasted!: And back on form: There is another development and it is a sad one. All shall be revealed soon.

That tool selection is an affront to any home mechanic. That is NOT a hammer. You must put that back in the shed with the DIY stuff and buy a manly ball-peon hammer weighing at least a pound otherwise you will never be able to carry out the necessary range of adjustments.....

duggers :LOL:. I will admit that I do have a deadweight hammer as well as a 2.5lb lump hammer. I thought I'd leave them out of the shots just in case someone called me brutal. Joking aside, I do wonder why I never bought an impact driver for all years; That's a lie, as it is because I can be a tight git at times, but what a timesaver. The entire job was done in 30 mins, and that includes photo taking as well as torquing the nuts up to spec with wrenches . As you can tell, the hammers could not separate the taper, so I had to use the splitter. With the impact wrench that was done in about 10 seconds .

What impact wrench did you use to separate the ball joint? I'm sick of splitting good boots with the splitters!!

I've got you now, I thought it was a different tool if not heard of.
I've got a clarke impact wrench/gun thing and I find it useless on most things, but I do agree with you though, if I forget to crack the ball joint nut off when the car is on the ground it's a god send.

This Kielder one is not amazing but it is not bad either . It used to struggle to undo wheel nuts, but it does them with ease now on the cars I have tried it with. It also has a variable trigger and an LED which makes it quite a versatile beast. It is meant to deliver 450Nm but of course that is socket dependant. I pondered over buying one for ages. I wanted a Snap On gun due to their rep but I didn't like the prices, even secondhand. The Sealey one looks good but it also looks keavy! This Kielder one is actually surprisingly light, even with the bigger batteries! Put it this way, my ratchets now do far less work, and even the breaker bar is going that way.

That's the issue I have with the sealey one, it won't undo wheel nuts, I'm sick of jarring my back with a normal wrench!! Had it not been a gift it would of gone back and I'd of got another one. I also find them quite clumbersome but for that one time need it every so often it's worth its weight in gold

Well, as always, all good things must come to an end.
It's gone.
I was kind of sad to see it go but considering the M3 has its share of miles going onto it with it also needing work in some areas I figured I'd focus my attention onto that.
It felt strange letting go of a car that "worked"!
