hi, long time no speak indeed! this morning ive been walking around the birmingham rag market with swmbo as she's into making dresses n the like, now as I'm walking around, I'm thinking about cars, in a world of my own, as i start seeing all these rather nice fabrics and materials i ask the question: 'you know my car right, how hard would it be to retrim the interior?' her: 'pretty easily i should imagine' me: including the rooflining and door cards and seats and stuff?' her: 'yeah, not really an issue' so, thats got me thinking of materials........ a few ideas so far include - denim - hessian - a mixture of neon colours - a load of old designer clothes cut up into patchwork - various combinations of leather with bits of netting, tartans, kiche patterns etc. so, i put it to you, what do you think would look good? I'm really on a denim look, various shades, with the proper jeans type stitching and grommets, maybe even a few pockets ;D ;D oh, this is the interior in question:

Quite nice already, but'd be thinking about what will go with ya Escort since its looking so smart. Cool though if she's gonna trim it for ya.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I´d use an old spare interior so that, when and if, you get sick of it you can swap back.
You do realize how good you have it, as i started doing the interior of the bus and asked the misses if she fancied giving us a had she told me to "sod off and do it yourself"!!
...so count yourself lucky!!!

Dunno denim just sounds uncomfy to the max. I deffo reckon it should be two tone, and as someone said it should deffo have a check centre section.

Denim is a no no for me my mate used to have one of those Pug 205 limited editions with jeans interior it was rank! Is your interior from a Mk5 Escort RS2000? Personally I reckon hessian recaros would rawk...... + = wierd but I reckon it would work! Very hard wearing, but maybe a bit itchy and scratchy!

pog FT 'texas chainsaw' W I'm seriously thinking about keeping the leather and replacing the centres with hessian, and re-doing the door cards in leather/hessian, with hessian rooflining and carpet keep the recaro badges etc (interior is out of a rover 800 and owes me about £30 so not 'too' bothered about butchering it for the good of doing something different ;

Denim would look gash imo. Interior looks pretty mint, is it damaged hence the need for a retrim?

nah, its fine - but its always going to be recognised as a rover interior, and i can have a retrim for the price of the fabric (around £50 in hessian for roof, floor, door cards and seats) so why not? ;D
the rest of the car is going to be finished to a pretty high standard so i want to get the interior looking good too

good point! I've roped my Dads missus into re-trimming the chevette when I get to that point, she used to make wedding dresses so I'm hoping for a decent outcome. I'm going to be lame and go for black vinyl though
Embossed Maltese crosses in the door cards FTW!
