Long time lurker, first time poster...
This resto is amazing - I love it! As a kid in the late 80s early 90s we had three 505 family estates in a row for my dad's company car. He couldn't get enough of them. All his colleagues got beemers but he was having none of it! π
I wish you the best of luck with this. One day, when I have space and the sprogs are a bit older I'll be wanting to do my own. If only there were any 505s about nowadays in the UK...
Might have to look at a 205, 309 or 405 instead when the time comes though as I love all the pugs from this era. At least some 205s about still.
Keep working at it. π

I love the headlights on these! Enjoying the updates. I can't remember the last time I saw one of these driving about in the UK.

Keep up the good work! It's coming together slowly but surely. If nothing else, I remember how fiddling with old cars at thirteen-seventeen taught me a lot about how they were put together and how they worked. Everything you do to this is improving it, and maybe you can get it roadworthy and drive it when you get your license? I was in the Classic Remise in Berlin this week, Atelier Automobile GmbH have one for sale. Was there in 2015, so the price is not right but it shows what can be achieved! www.atelier-automobile.de/verkauf-pkw/item/270-aus-freude-am-turbo.html

That Pug there on Atelier Automobile looks perfect, and it's worth a lot!, here (Chile) a 505 in similar condition to that one on the website is worth like 4.500 EUR. Well, to be honest i was giving up on this project and was about to sell it, my mother was almost convincing me about it, but then i told her i would just take the parts lying on the backyard and throw them inside the car, so with that excuse i started working on it again

I always find the cleaning works as it keeps the motivation there but costs nothing. If you fill the engine with water it will start and you can run it for thirty seconds or so as a test, thatβs what i always do

I have some money i earnt giving guitar lessons but it's only enough to buy the hoses OR fuel, not both, so not such a big motivation, anyways the car will remain untouched this week because i'll go on a trip with my family...

Now back home, my grandfather bought the radiator hoses for me and also some bolts for the front bumper (no pics of them for now), so now i need to buy some fuel and we're ready to roll. No work on the car today, however i helped my grandfather on his truck: a Pegaso 1234... we cleaned the air filter and changed some broken bolts. Some pics later

As promised here are the pics Engine Air filter Engine bay And that's all for today, anyways some words now... Not sure if this truck is an '84 or '89 but sure it is a nice, reliable and overall cheap truck. This one has the original engine but most of these Pegaso 1234's (also known as Pegaso Troner) have a Scania engine swap, because of parts available, Scania parts are more common and easier to find than Pegaso ones, this combination is most known as 'Pescania'. Hoping to put the hoses on the radiator tomorrow to have the Pug ready for another engine start, more updates soon... TJM

Never heard of Tatras, i'll search on google

Tatra used to make some phenomenal machines which Dr. Porsche used as inspiration for the beetle. They only make trucks now, think rebadged MAN.

Itβs hard to keep the motivation there when you have no money. If I'm in motivated mode but can't afford the time or money to do significant things, I switch to doing tiny insignificant things instead. It's amazing how much you can improve a vehicle by just picking off little niggles and small details bit-by-bit, and you still get that feel-good buzz of knowing you've made progress even if it's just a ten minute job. For me this might just be cleaning the dashboard, or hoovering the carpets. or getting a little pot of paint out and touching up some minor imperfections. I stopped my bonnet squeaking last week using two 1" lengths of fuel hose I'd pulled off the car the week before. It was a tiny thing that cost nothing but 3 minutes of my time. The effect on the car was amazing. For the entire time I've owned it the bonnet had been bouncing up and down, rattling and squeaking. I'd pretty much just got used to it. Now I've finally done something about it I feel like I'm driving a Bentley in comparison. If you can't make big progress, start on all the little things that aren't important enough to be a priority otherwise. You'll be amazed at how much progress you'll make for no money at all.
