Small update on the Alfa, still very reliable! And this week we hit our 10,000th mile together . As a treat I gave it a polish Makes a change from looking like this... Also bought a new heater control unit as the drivers temp control in the one in the car seems to of packed up.

They're a nice ride those 156's. My girlfriend drives an 1.8 16v ts sportwagon as her daily. Not as good as a jtd however, the 16v is no where naar as reliable.
I have used a 156 2.4 jtd as a donor for my '75 giulia. Complete engine and wiring. Should make a nice strong engine with a nice 5 cilinder sound as well.

I've done 7000 miles in about 4 and a half months and oddly its been very reliable?! Not so odd. I've had loads of Alfas, '70s through to '00s models, and I've found them no less reliable than any other car of the same vintage. Love 'em! Nice SW by the way

Do enjoy an Alfa Romeo.
Mine was cheap & knackered, but still a riot to drive. Gave £500 for an aging 145 tspark... Kept it 5-6 months. Hammered it everywhere. Put 8k on it.
Sold it for £400.
The "sensible" Mondeo which replaced it was worse in every way.
156s will be rare one day.

The "sensible" Mondeo which replaced it was worse in every way. 156s will be rare one day. I had a Mondeo tdci before the Alfa. The handling was better in the Mondy but the Alfa has more poke and the interior is a nicer place to be! Alfa's are already pretty rare! I know of one saloon but no sw's in my town and I pass an sw in the morning on my way to work.

Cracking car. I've got a 147 1.6 ts, I've covered over 50k with no issues apart from a front suspension arm needing replacing and usual maintenance. Its given death everywhere it goes and doesn't batter an eyelid. I used to be a Ford man but I can honestly say after my Mondeo st tdci experience I'll never go back. Alfas do get a lot of unnecessary stick, they're nowhere near as bad as they're made out to be.
