Ok so I made some progress today. I fitted the new (donor) shackle and the car seems to have settled down somewhat, not perfect but close enough for now. I also drained, flushed and refilled the rear shocks and measured both arms and also the drop links on both and they compare so good news I think. It might be worth checking the ride height at the front. Some MGBs of this era were built on a distorted jig and the front nearside chassis leg is 6mm higher than the offside. If yours is one of those, then it can look like the back is high on the offside even when you've fixed all the obvious things. In the past, I've put a 6mm alloy shim between the crossmember and the chassis leg to get the geometry and corner weights right.

Thanks for that, I know that the front suspension has been replaced maybe badly. Would 6mm make such a difference?

Yes it does because it is so far inboard and the effect at the wheel is magnified. I first found it when I measured the camber on a rubber bumper B and there was twice the camber on the nearside compared with the offside. I then measured the ride height and it was around 10mm different left front to right rear and the corner weights were miles out.

you know that there are shims between the body and the front wishbones to address any camber issues?

I'll probably be fitting the rear shocks either today or tomorrow, once that's done I'll sit her back down on her wheels and see what she looks like. At the moment she looks Ok with axle stands under the rear springs.

yeah i'm pretty happy with it for now. Been stripping and cleaning the carbs today, no wonder it wouldn't start they were hanging with varnish and crud. Just spent nearly £200 on carb repair kit and new fuel pump, no going back now.

Being a RB model you'll need to make a closing section for below the rear lights if you want the Sebring rear.

Thanks Nathan, I have seen the fibreglass rears with the closing section moulded in, thinking that may be the way to go

I've got a sebring rear valance which I've been in two minds about fitting to my car, it may be available as I'm probably not going to use it
Its down at my unit at the moment, I can see if I can get some photos of it for you?

If you're not fussed about keeping sealed beams (which I assume this is still on), you can get halogen compatible headlights easily and cheaply from that there eBay. You want a pair of 7" units and you should find the aftermarket ones are all generic fitting. The main difference really is the lens shape and material so decide if you want a modern flat plastic look or an older domed glass look before buying.
