Hi all, The last time I owned an MG (not counting a couple of MG Metro's I owned in the 1990's) was this one ............. That was over 20 years ago. It was sold when my son was born and I reluctantly agreed it wasn't big enough. I've been toying with the idea of getting another 'classic' since I sold my beach buggy a few weeks back. I've got a big garage, but access to it is really tight, so usually there's nothing wider than a Mini in there. Last week I was working on a small industrial estate near Kingston where I got chatting with an old chap who owned a garage there. This MGB GT was sitting in his workshop. I'd forgotten how narrow they are (only a couple of inches wider than a Mini). "That's nice", I said, "Don't suppose it's for sale?" You can guess the rest, the next day I went back for a test drive and to view the incredible service history - literally every MOT and invoice for work done from the day it was delivered back in 1973. The original owner had even started a journal about the car, detailing how it was performing, MPG, various trips undertaken etc. This was kept up by every owner since and I'll carry on the tradition. It needs a little 'fettling' and tidying so I'll no doubt be asking a few questions as I know there are a few knowledgeable MGB owners on here.

It's apparent my MGB GT is going to need some parts bought sooner rather than later so I'm after recommendations for suppliers.
The car is a Teal Blue November 1973 registered MGB GT with a tan coloured fabric interior, which is a little tired!
Does anyone sell new or (as good as new quality) refurbished MG Rostyle wheels? I thought the MG Owners Club shop did but can't see them on the shop website (thought I'd seen Mike Brewer buy some there on Wheeler Dealers once!).
I also need a complete brake servo unit (there are some on ebay but hard to judge the quality)
I need a full Tan / Beige carpet set – one that actually fits well, to replace the threadbare ones in the car.
and what might be the hardest thing to find - an outer cover for a Weathershields Ltd Sunway roof (ideally want someone to supply and fit) - however, note in massive history file that came with the car says the sunroof was rebuilt from scratch during a refurb of the car in 2000 as a ‘Webasto style sunroof’, due to Sunway roof spares not being available.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Kerry

I like the choice they give you between Genuine, OEM and cheap for the same parts, so you can pick and choose depending on application.

What stinkynails says, MGB Hive for good price general bits, Moss are higher priced but have pretty much everything, handy for those odd little bits of trim The interior on yours looks like Autumn Leaf I think? Nice

It's getting like the MGB owners club around here! Nice example by the looks of it. There used to be an MG specialist out on the Kingston bypass..

mbg hive sell everything : ) ...and they are cheaper than everyone else too Great recommendation - I ordered a few trim bits which were missing or damaged on my car from MGBhive and they were here less than 24 hours later
This is the reason my car choices were limited - the narrowest part of the drive is under 6'wide, not that I'm unhappy with my purchase, just need to decide what needs doing first on it. Plan is it will be a 'rolling resto' as I don't want to have it off the road and in the garage unused for months on end.
I either need to clear some junk from the garage or maybe extend it a bit - neither of my 'British Leyland's Finest' like the winter weather!!

Smart looking car. Good luck with the resto
Although you need to reevaluate your definition of a tight drive. I have to fold in my side mirrors or risk catching the alloys along the low level pavers on the other side of the car! Plus it looks like my son is going to have to fit OEM wheels to the Landy he's building on the back garden in order to get it down the driveway into the road

If it can be fixed with a hammer, then it must be an electrical fault

Looks good. See what you mean about the drive.
Build yourself a bit of a car port keep the worst of the weather off it.

So at 7:45 this morning I scraped the ice off the MG to head to the last Walton Bridge Breakfast Club meet of 2016. I’d arranged to go with my mate Jim who has a selection of retro modes of transport – a couple of 1970 era Fiat 500’s, one of those bonkers Lomax 2cv powered three wheelers and a Porsche 924. Unfortunately, none of them are currently working properly so he hopped into the passenger seat of the B. I wasn’t sure what the turnout would be bearing in mind that a lot of cars get tucked up for the winter and it was bloody cold but there were a lot of cool cars present. Here’s a random few photo’s I took……….. All tastes represented ;-) 3 DeLorean’s in the same car park!

and some more.... Awesome Quattro Not just 4 wheeled stuff looked good today…. The MGB behaved impeccably and actually seems to have a decent heater Great local meet, it never fails to throw up some cool cars. If you're within striking distance of Walton-on-Thames it's well worth a trip.
