The Skoda has been a great vehicle, I've really enjoyed owning it but I need an estate so it has to go. I've owned it for almost three years and it's been really useful. I've used it to cart all sorts of curse word around in.
It's a 1.6 petrol with 86523 miles on the clock. I'm pretty sure that's genuine, the service book is stamped up till 2009 when it was on 59000 miles and the MOT certificates I have for it state it was on 63000 in 2011. It has all the Skoda booklets with it too.
I've done a few bits and pieces to it since I've had it. It needed the sills welding to get it through the first MOT in my ownership. They're still solid but could do with some tidying up to stop them going the same way again. I've pictured them so you can see. The cat blocked up due to a misfire, so I decatted it and replaced the coil which was the cause of the misfire. I also fitted a brand new radiator about 18 months ago when the old one started leaking. More recently, I fitted new valve stem oil seals as it was using a bit of oil. Obviously, I had to do the head gasket at the same time and I lapped in all the valves and replaced all the top end seals and gaskets while I was at it. The head bolts are all new too. I fitted a brand new cat for the MOT as it wouldn't go through with the decat. It blows a little where I haven't done a very good job of sealing it, so could do with a bit of gun gum or similar. It's had three new tyres within the last year and I haven't done many miles in it since. It will need one tyre soon though.
Bodywork wise, it's a little tatty. A lot of these are totally rotten and while it's not a perfect example, it's solid where it matters. As mentioned previously, the sills could do with a coat of paint to seal and protect them, they were an advisory on the MOT. The wings are probably the worst bit and will require some attention if you are that bothered by it. I never was. The bed has a bit of a crusty patch along the rear edge, which I've pictured (Last photo). The MOT guy said it wasn't structural, so was fine MOT wise. I hammerited the bed when I first got it, but a few years of loading things in the back has taken it's toll and it could do with a fresh coat of paint to tidy it up. It's had a VW badge stuck on the front.
Mechanically it's good. It goes, turns and stops as it should. The suspension is fairly stiff for when you've got a load in the back, so when it's empty it's pretty good fun to drive. It used to be a Cube van, which has a truckman type back but that was removed a long time before I owned it. There is a net which goes across the back, fastened with poppers. I've been using it without the net for the last few months though. It has four D rings in the load area for tying down to.
The interior is average. It's not filthy but it's not amazingly clean. The passenger seat is a bit grubby and could do with a shampoo if you were fussy. All instruments work and it comes with a face-off JVC CD headunit. There is a storage compartment behind the seats which can hold a surprising amount of curse word. The jack and wheel brace are located there. The heater is INSANE. I've never had to have it up full whack because it's so hot. I guess it just has a smaller area to heat than in a car.
It has a full MOT with a few advisories.
001 Body has slight corrosion nearside outer (Sill) [6.1.B.2]
002 Body has slight corrosion offside outer (Sill) [6.1.B.2]
003 Brake hose slightly deteriorated nearside front [3.6.B.4d]
004 Brake hose slightly deteriorated offside front [3.6.B.4d]
005 Tyre worn close to the legal limit offside rear [4.1.E.1]
Overall it's a great little runaround. The only time it's ever let me down was when the cat blocked up. I would trust it to take me anywhere. I wish I could keep it, but I need an estate for work and this just isn't practical anymore. With a little work, it could be really tidy.
It comes with a spare set of brake pads and a tin of Skoda white paint.
£500
Any questions, fire away.
