Thanks for taking the time to read this thread.
I purchased this car back in the summer as a test bed / demonstration vehicle for my Detailing Business.
The attraction was 33000 VOSA supported miles from new. 2 previous owners. Last one an elderly lady who used the car for over 10 years. Service history was in its book pack.
The MOT check supports around 1000 miles per year Please check for yourself on www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ with registration of T896 SFW
I treated the car as a genuine survivor vehicle. The (solid blue) paint depth all checks out as original. It wears scrapes along the corner of each bumper from touch parking.
There are a couple of minor dings to the rear quarters which a PDR guy could pop back if you so chose.
The 1.6 engine fires straight up , makes no fuss and delivers a reasonably competent drive in modern traffic.
Box can seem a little tight until the oil has warmed up. That,s just me being picky and honest. Lasts 5 minutes at most. My mechanic doesn't feel this is a real issue.
The interior is basically as new as I have ever seen for a car of this age. I don't like throwing around terms like "immaculate" but being a car detailer I see my share of vehicles come through. Lets just say this is totally original, unmolested and stunning.
The car still wears its original spec VW wheel trims - but I do have a set of 5 soft spoke TSW Stealths available with as new tyres if somebody was looking at taking the car in that direction.
I would hate to total up the amount of hours that I spent detailing this car. To be honest I was torn with what exactly to do with it. I considered having a little body work done, then considered having it as an advertising vehicle for my business. Whilst I was unsure, I gave a friend long term loan of it to help him out with his young family. I now have the logbook back with me but regrettably the service book pack has gone missing. All I have of it is a photo I once took with it on the passenger seat!! I've just had to accept that there is nothing I can really do about that now. It goes without saying that should it reappear I will of course happily send it on to the new owner.
I can happily whattsapp a host of pictures across to any genuine enquiries until I can get some posted on the advert.
As to value? Its worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. I'm not hugely into the VDub scene or the classic car market anymore.
It has heaps of potential as it is - or as a more adventurous project with an engine swap or dropped to wear the Euro look.
If anyone would like to PM me an informed price guide then I would be very grateful. To get the ball rolling, and meet the advertising brief, I'm going to throw up the figure of £750.
February 2017 MOT but happy to put a genuine full ticket on it if required.
Car is located in Redcar, North East England. There vare a few members on here who know me and my detailing company so will hopefully vouch for my integrity.
