Similar concept to the VAG "VR" series engines thought the angles will be different. Rummaging about on the web to try and discover what the V angle is provides mostly confusion as it seems that it may be different for different versions of this engine. This says to me that care is needed selecting a machine shop and probably you should talk to a Fulvia specialist. Here's one that says they can actually do the work in house...... www.omicron.uk.com/workshop/engine-rebuilds/......but there may be others who can advise on competent machine shops. Nick

Nick The VR engines by VW some would say copied the Lancia idea... But I personally wouldnt like to say. I do drive a VW golf V6 4 motion which is a fantastic car. There is a ford V4 engine but I don't know anything much about those. Yes the angles of the V do vary with the engines mine is just under 13 degrees and then they made it slightly less for the later engines and the the 1600 was less again. So the heads cannot be swapped about. For those that are interested the angle is 12°53'28" for the 1216cc which is the version I have I know Omicron well and would happily use them again but its a bit too far away.

So the deck is not perp to the bore? Fair enough. No they're a bit weird, always assumed they're a standard 60/90 V but they're more like a cube with the bores angled in. Yep thats the one. the 1600cc engine variante v1016 was the most highly tuned and the official figures were 132HP though there are stories of the works ones at 150HP still with carbs and distributer for ignition, which was not too bad at all at the start of 1970.

I guess your average machinist would square the block on the mill table against the main bearing caps, but for the tool to achieve the correct V angle one would need to affix some kind of chicken rotisserie attachment to the knee of the mill. Like so:

You're hungry aren't you? No they fix it to an angle plate and clock the bore in so it's vertical. Colin

There is a ford V4 engine but I don't know anything much about those. Completely different engine, 60˚ V. Click the link in my sig if you want to know more about these beauties.

SRS (Sutton Rebore) rebored and honed to 76.6mm to fit the pistons I had. Blast cleaned and refaced the top and bottom. Very pleased and I can now get on with the engine rebuild
