Wow, fantastic shots. That Swedish reg Sierra Cossie AMM180 on page one has been off the road since 2010 but not scrapped, has one owner since 1994 and has only done 60000 miles according to the swedish equivalent to the DVLA. Would be interesting to hear what they were doing visiting East Kilbride in 1993!

This is definitely the best thread on here apart from the abandoned thread...more pics as and when you can ab Cheers! Still got lots more to look through. Particularly looking forward to going through my Spanish holiday snaps from '93. Basically the same idea as the Glasgow shots, only with tons of old awesome Seats that I'd love to own today!

No mention whether it's a happy ending but 1 owner since 1994 suggests it was long time.

I have to admit, my favourite thing about looking through old photos is car spotting (plus laughing at questionable hair styles and all denim outfits). This thread is great. Some edgy looking angles on some of these photos; shows a bit more action happening. What would have been seen by most at the time as a dull and/or pointless photo is now looking back at motor/social history. Reminds me of pre-NCT days in Ireland (not even 20 years ago!) where you'd see holes of rust through entire panels and bumpers tied on.

A few more from the Earls Court Motor Show - some from '85, some from '87. Alfa Romeo 75, in red, naturally. Saab 9000 - quite new in '85 The Volvo 480 ES - I quite liked the interior on these. Not so sure about the exterior... This was as close as I ever got to owning an RS500 Citroen AX GT - I am guessing there's only a handful left. Mercedes SL, in 80s red, complete with 80s feathered hair on the lady looking at it. A shot from the balcony of the Audi stand, whose theme was obvious RED that year. Manta GT/E with prospective buyer. The moody guy in the leather jacket on the right of the picture looks like he wants a go...

And a few more randoms, mostly late 80s with a few from the 90s & early 2000s. Shot in Rennes on the French exchange trip in 1989. Passat on the left, with a Mini and an Opel Kadett mostly obscured. A spankingly new Renault 21 is in the foreground. River ferry in Cornwall, 1998. Can you tell it's a Mini run? The only non-Mini I can see is the Fiat Cinquecento on the far right. Broken down Metro by the side of the Motorway, 1998. Sunbeam Alpine at a custom show, 1987. Owner obviously wasn't able to find a V8 that fitted, so chucked in a V6 IIRC. Air filter required a big hole in the bonnet. Mini-based "Jiffy" pick-up at Castle Combe in 1998. One of the then-new Merc SEC Coupes - taken in about 1986. This was Box Hill, Surrey. The souped-up Escort from Clacton again. It's still MOT'd, and is currently on SORN. A fair-weather car I'd guess. It's a 1600 Mexico - apparently.

I was lucky in that my Dad was into photography, and I was able to use his Nikon F2 when younger, which is what some of the pics I have posted were taken on. Others were taken on an old Olympus compact. Last few before I have to start scanning the B&W negatives... Caterham 7 - I used to have a massive poster print of this very car up on my bedroom wall as a teenager. Lovely bit of kit. Pair of Sierras down by Clacton Pier in August '86. The Police one is a 2.0iS - it had the black mouldings on the bottoms of the doors and for a short while was the "fast" Sierra in the range. Note the '76 Celica to the far right of the picture. The rear end of the Custom Capri posted earlier. Jag IRS, frenched rear lights and aerials and the "de-rigeur" spanner bolted to the diff casing. Aston V8 at Box Hill car park in June '86. Datsun Cherry in the background. A different blue Aston, this time a Volante in Clacton, 1987. The last of my trio of Astons, a Lagonda taken in fading light back in 1986. Metro 6R4 at Goodwood in 1987. It sounded - for want of a better word - EPIC. Back to '87 Custom show, this Consul Classic had a blown Daimler Hemi V8 I think. Mini Riviera Run, 1995. This home-chopped Mini had only been "completed" the night before. Jag XJ-S parked outside a B&B with personal plate - big money back in 1986. Mini Convertible at a local secondhand dealers in Clacton. Early 3-series behind it. My first car (the Mini), with then neighbour Steve's Fiat 127 Sport parked behind. Sadly he passed away in the early 2000s and I'd moved away so I never found out what happened to it. He had an Alfasud too. The last Mini I had, just before I sold it with a broken engine back in 2004. I miss it. Last heard living in Clacton, about 8 years ago.

The loud and lairy Mk2 Escort seems to of toned down it's clothes in old age... Wow - that's quite a turn-up for the books! Nice that it's been taken back to "standard" - I reckon it's been a well-loved car all its life, whatever it looked like.
