Hello guys really need some help regarding a mk1 golf 1982, basically I was removing the speedo as the connections wont good and, had to remove the hazard switch and other switches to get the speedo out, when I took the hazard switch off the connector it was tight so had to pry it of slowly but it fell apart I put it back to what I thought was correct, but my hazards and indicators are not working, there is a dim light on indicator light on dash and it just gets brighter when the indicators are engaged but no flashing lights or anything, I checked the fuses and they seem ok, is there a way I could test the switch and also how I could test the wiring to see if the power is coming to the switch, all help is appreciated thanks

Put a new hazard switch on , indicators run through hazard switch .

Hi, Hazard switches are complicated because they're multi pole changeover switches used to connect and disconnect both sides of the indicators and two flasher units either together or separately. At the best of times because they are little used the switch contacts fur up or become dirty and sometimes only need a little knock or one operation to stop part or all of it not working. So if you can find another switch do so and fit that, you could also give it a squirt of switch cleaner. You could try giving the existing switch a clean but I wouldn't spend too much time on it.
