In a retro car way < growing old disgracefully > to me means being 66 years old , driving something retro ish and not conforming to the rules society appears to want us to follow. To be different in a modest unassuming non offensive way yet making a statement at the same time retro wise / auto wise etc. My Mazda MX 3 is approaching retro soon and with a HKS Super Drager exhaust soon to be fitted its just fun all the way. Wife not too impressed but i tell her its for saving fuel over owning a big modern 4x4 or such like. Struggle to get in but that is part of the fun. Have to admit neighbours are baffled but then not many 66 year olds are still fitting induction kits and straight through exhausts. A 50 year old hobby / a life time of fun, meeting fantastic people along the way and forever dipping into my pocket / would not change a single minute of it. My neighbour few doors down also 66 as a VW mk4 Golf GTI fully modified, remapped and enough in car entertainment to keep a music festival happy not to mention all the performance parts and still goes to shows entering show n shine etc and forever on the look out for more performance. Whilst many of you RR forum members are younger do you see yourself in the same position when you retire.?

I'm nearly 63 and am perfectly content to be "growing old disgracefully" with regular trackdays and run-what-ya-brungs to keep the old reactions tuned up (as well as keeping the local boy racers on their toes) My cars are not quite as low as they used to be and getting over the door bars takes longer than it used to, but I can live with that! If I stopped there'd be little point in living anyway!

Better to be disgraceful than drive mundane cars like my neighbours who make lots of comments about my "Old bangers" at 48 years old I'm gonna be disgraceful forever!

I got into cars from a early age of 10 i think it was when i used to help my dad change the spark plugs and mess around with hes cortina, from then i got the bug! I'm 42 now and still building and racing cars, infact was working on the roll cage this morning so i can safely say its never going to stop

I'm just 48, and probably getting worse as I get older... I'd like to think I'll be like one of those old buggers in last of the summer wine, probably not one of the main characters, probably Wesley Pegden, always in my shed tinkering with something!

I'm only 50 so still too young for this. Hoping to get more time for playing with my cars and stuff when I retire if I can ever afford to.

I'm sure some of you will have seen the T shirts and stickers that quote "Old Guys Rule" which I think is perfect for anyone wanting to grow old disgracefully well I think I might just qualify as I will be 65 later this year I have a "birthday" plan which is past the drawing board stage and hopefully kicking into phase 1 in the next couple of weeks, phase 1, will be to clear the garage floor of bicycles, kids scooters & trikes, timber, junk etc, etc so I can see it again to make room for a new "toy" this is what happens when you don't have a car in there phase 2, will be some serious thinking about rearranging the garage to maximise the space phase 3, will be to treat myself to a serious 65th birthday present

Well Geoff, I've known you now for at least 16 years and you've never changed, if anything you're getting worse and worse now you've retired, I'll be 49 next month and hope that I'll be as young in my outlook as you are when I get to retire. Keep well matey and keep those keys deep in your pocket whilst in paper shops..... ;0)

48 and haven't owned a sensible car yet . Starting to feel a bit long in the tooth at trackdays but that just means I have to keep tweaking to keep up with the moderner stuff .
Just remembered I did buy a fully specced 03 omega 3.2 elite a couple of years back after some badgering from the wife to have a dog friendly car but it just sat in front of the house and I only realised it wasn't there when the dvla wrote to me to tell me it had been seized for having no tax and it cost me £350 to get it back

My grandad is 81 and just given up driving, however he approves of my straight through exhausts and lowered suspension, says it reminds him of his side valve Pop days

well at 51 my daily is the six wheel RRC in the film cars thread. My Grandad was 89 and still speeding in an original Fiat 500 Even my middle son, when he was about 7 said "I like that we don't have ordinary cars like everyone else!" He now drives a Sierra Sapphire undergoing a Zetec conversion until he can get the MK3 Capri finished

A neighbour of mine is in his 80s now and still has a V8 FD Victor and a MkII Cortina Savage! Like me, his attitude is "You can have my cars when you prise the keys from my cold, dead hand!"

57 and no intention of getting rid of the MX5 (only had it for a couple of years anyway) and will still do track days. Although I really done' want to do any work outside in this weather.
My wife and daughter had horses so all potential 'toy' money went there now it's my turn even if I had to wait a bit.
