Hi all
Just picked up a 2004 ford ka 1.3 duratec
Smart little ka but has a misfire on cylinder 4 according to my code readers
Changed plugs leads and coil pack and it was still missing
I then have it a few seconds of high revs and it has now settled down to an even tick over with only the occasional miss
Ka had been standing a couple of months and only driven a few miles to mine
Anyone got any suggestions?
Cheers

What state are the spark plugs in? May just want them replacing as well as the coil and leads that has already been done

Burnt valve try doing a compression test on it Especially if it's slightly lumpy on idle but once going miss clears up

My other halfs astra does this after being stood sometimes. Dragging it out by the scruff of its neck for a spirited drive and "forgetting" it has a 4th and 5th gear normally wakes it up.

New leads? The metal caps can be troublesome

Hi there
I would go with a sticking exhaust valve.
My daughter has had several ka's whilst at uni and all have had a similar issue if left standing for a few months. Two out of three have burnt an exhaust valve. Strangely, both were on number 3 cylinder.
Cheers - mike

I think the issue is lack of use so will pop it in for mot and get some miles done.
I can live with the feeling of misfire ap long fuel economy is good
Oh and already fitted new leads
A little thrashing will sort it out I'm sure
Cheers

What brand are the leads? Some leads are horrific. The Motorcraft leads or Beru leads trump the lot for performance and durability but they are pricey! I'd also be tempted to check compression as well. Hi there I would go with a sticking exhaust valve. Injector , done lots of these , 2 8 mm bolts and prise the rail up a bit at a time with a bar along the rail . Spin it on the starter and you'll see it spitting unlike the others

What ^^^^froggy^^^^ said. Give it fresh fuel and an Italian tune up for starters. Worst case remove and get the injector cleaned/replaced

These are semi sequential injection so at lower rpm the inj fires as the valve opens so the misfire can sometimes only show up at idle if the inj isn't too badly clogged , never bothered trying to clean them as there's plenty of scrap ka,s about . You can move the subject inj to prove it if it sprays very close to the others the fault code will move with it

Bottle of injector cleaner with a total of about fifteen litres in tank . . Driven for about ten miles in one gear lower than usual (high revs but not thrashing it) all is spot on now!
Cheers 😆
Oh and passed mot today too
