2015 model Nissan Navara. could be just this particular one but boy is it awefull! Bought by my boss as a "pool" car for the company. Everyone dislikes it, it's in the garage more then it is in our drive (usually the 400.000km replacement cars drive better). Drive is utter curse word, no power AT ALL (supposed 180bhp), however, fast lane at a traffic light it not done! NO off road capabilities whatsoever, although giant off road tyres are fitted already instead of the road tyres they come with standard. (only difference is more noise at high speeds) breaks down constantly (had two injectors pulled in the first 10.000km), and we keep finding iron particles in the oil. Also impossible to fit into being 1m98. Would not recommend you one unless you were my worst enemy

Mitsubishi Eclipse. Was a rental in the US of A. Such a waste of room. Front seats quite okay, rear seats unuseable for anyone older than six years. Boot is so small, I've seen cars with bigger glove compartments. There was also no cover, so anybody could clearly see what was in the boot.
Ford Escort (north American version). You guessed it, a rental. Canada. Boring, slow and sluggish, in spite of hundred-something hp, I think it couldn't outperform my Passat diesel. It had an impressing collection of warning sounds. Couldn't imagine how much this gets on our nerves. Should have pulled the fuse on the very first day.
BMW 2002. Bought as a cheap winter car in the early 90s. Dissolved faster (shell and mechanics) then the French stuff I drove usually. Real bad performance on snow and ice even with decent winter tyres. Consumed more petrol and oil than the Red Army.

1990(ish), BMW 850. I had one in for mot, that just happened to involve me giving it a quick road test. Hugely unimpressed with the performance. I'm not sure now, but did they have a 5ltr V8, or V12 ? It was nice, but that's all. I was expecting to be pinned in the seat, but it left me disappointed. Maybe I just got a bad one, I've never been close to driving another to find out. The looks though..............

2014 Opel/Vauxhall Astra 1.7 CDTI
-ridiculously bad view from the driver`s position, you can barely see traffic on crossings. -engine layout is rubbish. under 2500 rpm no power at all, then the turbo kicks in till 3500 rmp and, again, nothing. -suspension is also rubbish. no comfort at all. -rear seats are even worse.rear bench feels like a cloth covered stack of bricks. -big car, no space. my old Astra F Caravan had a way bigger boot! -all the noises it makes when you get in. bing, bing, hoot, hoot, plung,plung...why? am i an adult or an idiot? i can see it gets dark, so i know i need to switch on the light. or buckle up. or release the parking brake. or close the door. -car was 6 months old and had done 22000kms. interior trim was slightly worn, gear leaver cover startet to come off so did the silver paint on the steering wheel switches and electric window switches.
my mum has a volvo 940 as daily driver. 26 years old. 440000 kms. never seen a garage, always parks on the side of the street. badest thing ever happened? the headliner came off a couple of years ago...
the astra will never reach this mileage. or this age at all. i honestly feel sorry for everybody wasting his money on a new car. spend the money for something better, something useful. your kids, for example.
stupid one. glad i own enough old scrap!

Also 2014ish (brand new service courtesy car) passat mid spec thing. I was quite happy when they gave it me as I was expecting it to be nice.
Dully Mc Dullface, boring in every sense and couldn't even have fun in the snow because they fitted them with an electric handbrake.

Mine would be a WRX STi. Always wanted one and it didn't disappoint on the way the thing moved around but the drone through the cabin in traffic became an intolerable spine and headache. Probably didn't help that the p/o swapped the exhaust for dustbins.

Controversial one for me maybe, but the mk1 Mazda MX5. I drove a friends one back when I first had my AE86 to compare them and found the power delivery in the MX5 terrible, it wasn't econobox slow but it felt like it had given everything it had by 3000rpm and merely progressed through the revband after that. Maybe I was too used to the 4age giving all its power and more once the needle was in the red? Either way it felt like a sensible runaround, not a sporty car. Couple that with me being tall enough not to fit in with the roof up and the result was pretty damn disappointing! U.K. Spec one per chance? The 1.6 is detuned as standard to make the 1.8 seem more impressive when it's only actually got 15 more hp, and it gives just the feeling you describe. I've just been out in the one I've put together for the missus today and was thinking how revvy and responsive it felt. It's a 1.6 Japanese spec with the cam belt timing freshly set and it sings, had the needle in the red most of the time and it was loving it. Agree about the interior though, I'm 6'4" and I struggle a bit!

I remember doing a used car sale prep on a focus st170? At the time I owned my metro 1.8 VVC and was expecting something slightly similar. It was anything but, I know it's not going to be a rocket but jeez it felt slowww and clumsy.

After a think, mine is probably the Merc 190e. They're perfectly fine cars, but bland, heavy and slow compared to it obvious rival, the e30. I've had a couple of 190e, the first was a very, very nice example, new everything, brand name suspension, etc. I put it down to being an auto that killed the experience. I think it says a lot when I traded it away for an escort van and some cash!
A while alter I had another, a Manual this time. That was even worse, possibly the worst gearbag ever, and bear in mind most of what I drive is pre-war......

For me it was the Alfa GTV V6 Went for a test drive in one as I was considering a V6 to replace my Saab Aero. Exterior looks are great, the engine is one of the sweetest sounding things I've heard but the interior felt a bit curse word, the seating position was just wrong, the boot had a spare wheel plonked in it, the rear seats were useless, visibility out was curse word, it didn't feel overly fast and it just didn't live up to my expectations That said, if I had the money and the space on the drive, I'd still be tempted to own one and see if I could learn to live with it... but maybe thats just an Alfa thing..

God, what a fool I've been. There's me blathering on about a hire car from several years ago and then I remembered we (rather Madam) actually own the most disappointing car I've driven. This... The utterly, utterly hateful Toyota Fortuner. It's so disappointing, I don't really know where to begin. Interior is cheap, nasty, plastiky, fragile, bland and the seats are instruments of pure torture. Driving the thing reveals brakes which are way too sharp, which although probably suits the on-off driving style of the Philippines, is a pain if you prefer your progress smooth. Turbo lag can be measured in days, which makes pulling out of junctions and overtaking "interesting", whilst things get their act together under the bonnet and whoever mated THAT autobox to THAT engine wants castrating. They just don't work well together. The box maybe fine behind a revvy little 2L petrol but on a slow 3L diesel, it wants to change in all the wrong places, further exacerbating the turbo lag. Steering is curse word too, but that's probably not actually Toyota's fault and can be blamed on a combination of Madam's inexplicable fitting of 20" wheels, elastic band tyres and Manila roads. Add to this hideous styling and atrocious dealer service then yes, I'd say disappointing* could sum it up! Let me put it this way, if I have a meeting on a Monday, when I can't use the '38 due to number coding, and Madam offers me the Toyota keys, I've taken to flagging an curse word taxi instead. That's how bad it is. *I have been known to use other, more descriptive adjectives in less polite company.

I was going to put the vauxhall vectra 2 litre diesel. known as the vectra c i think, 2002 ish. needlessly harsh ride, leaks water, wooden brakes, but to be fair its not claiming to be a great car.
The worst car I have ever driven is the mk5 golf gti. They have a reputation as a good hot hatch, quick, well built, reliable etc etc. Bull***t. I have no idea how they only got 200bhp from a 2 litre turbo but they managed it and on top of that the diff cant handle it. peak power feels about 3000rpm and nothing really seems to happen after that. They're relentlessly unreliable and the build quality is awful. Its spent most of the last year with at best a minor niggle, at worst on the back of a recovery truck and I have no idea how they get that many rattles coming from the dash. The worst crime from this hot hatch though is the way it drives. The steering is utterly utterly dead in your hands to the point where you cannot drive quickly with any confidence in it, the suspension is an odd combination of not being particularly hard yet crashes over every minor bump and the road noise from the tyres is deafening. Oh and equipment level on this premium brand hot hatch. non existent. All of this from a car that cost new more than its competitors.
I went in a kia c'eed gt or whatever its called. like night and day. The same power but from a 1.6 turbo, it feels eager, has decent ride quality, no rattles and every extra you could think of. And i HATE kias
edit - just realised how much this sounds like an alan partridge rant.
in fact
'With a mere ninety break-horse-power available, progress is too leisurely to be called fast, but on the motorway in fifth gear the Megane’s slow pace really becomes a pain. Uphill runs become power-sappingly mundane, while overtaking National Express coaches can become a long, drawn-out affair.' Not my words, Carol, the words of Top Gear magazine. "

The biggest Let down for me was an alfa 155 2.0 16v turbo Q4.always love the shape of the 155 but hated the fwd.
On paper it has nice specs being a 190bhp turbocharged 4x4 saloon. But it was No fun at all. At 1460kg empty it was not fast. Handling was ok but not much fun if you're used to rwd cars.
Sold it real quick to get my money back.

I can't really compete here, suppose that's a good thing in a way. I bought a 2008 fiesta ST when it was about 4 years old for a very fair price. They seemed to advertise it as a respectable car, quick, bible, sporty, sought after and I have never been so disappointed. Slow, poor build quality, handled like curse word, it was just incredibly disappointing. Fancy having a go at a 1*2 renaultsport, hope that's not as disapointing. I can remember having a bit of a play with a mk5 ST on a twisty road in my old Sierra years ago, to be fair the Sierra wasn't exactly standard, it had a tuned 2.8 V6 and Spax adjustable suspension but on paper I would have expected the ST to give the Sierra a good fight (or vice-versa!) but it didn't, I honestly thought the ST driver wasn't trying, I had to keep backing off so as not to whack the Fiesta in the a rse.
