They look great, in fact your turbo thread was partly to blame for me buying my MG.
What suspension have you got on them? Also what is the best place to get parts from?

Great looking cars... There can't be many left now. Most of them had rust issues just a few years from new, didn't they?

Why do I find myself wanting a Maestro. Always fancied an MG version but really like the uncluttered lines of the other car.

Thanks for the positive comments, the 1.3 gets just as much if not more attention than the turbo which surprised me. Quite a few people prefer it. They are both in great nick but they is always some jobs to get on with, get one of the list another emerges ha.
Glad I inspired you to buy a mg maestro! Just cheapy shocks on springs. KYB on the turbo which are not to bad considering. Has some actual suspension and is fun to drive, can chuck it about with confidence and sits nice, not sure they are available any more, might be wrong. Not sure whats on the 1.3 yellow shocks/red springs come fitted as new when I bought it. Might sit about the same as the turbo but proper wibblepoo. Like driving a bouncy castle ha. Looks good though only a 1.3 just for pottering in. If you have a search the polo coilovers fit with little work so its possible to get as cheap or decent as you want.
Obvious rimmerbros and local motorfactors with parts with rover not bothering to develop new parts quite a lot of the stuff on the later rovers is the same ha. But for harder bits to find just join the owners club and pit up a friendly post. someone always helps. Surprising how many people have barns full of the things lol.

Thanks for the info, will have a go with the polo option as they are so cheap I have nothing to loose and can upgrade later. Got a lead on parts today, took the car to work and one of the guys noticed it. Turns out his brother inlaw has 2 and used to run a Rover dealership which he still operates from.

Found the ad for the car in the back of modern classics mag. Was on a flight to Toronto and it caught my eye. When I got back home I gave the guy a call on the off chance it was still for sale and the rest is history.
It is in good condition, however it has had a number of repairs that aren't the best close up. I fell in love with it when I drove it the 80m home. Since then I have booked it in for a full body respray. It drives much like a mk1 golf gti, but dare I say a bit quicker..

Seemed cheap as they are slowly rising in value. £1700 wasn't it? Ail be keeping an eye on the progress, glad to here it getting a respray. Another one saved

I won best saloon at bishop Auckland castle classic car show a few years back now. Only had the 1.3 a few months. you might see that around Darlington/Aycliffe,

Always loved the Maestro, despite their bad press! The 1.3 is perfect, love it!!! A lovely slice of the late 80's early 90's
