Hello, its me again.
As many of you won't be aware I bought this:
retrorides.proboards.com/thread/194293/1996-golf-full-leather-months
and very nice it is too. Gear linkage is a bit shady but I can live with that for now.
I have been generally hooning about in it and enjoying the comedy soft suspension. But 90bhp was making me sad. So...
Instead of changing the oil and stuff I purchased a set of 4 of these....
Bigger .216 injector nozzles from a transporter, and also a set of these......
mmmmmm tread.
Alas no photos of the slide hammer injector pulling action, but here's an out of focus old nozzle (no Macro on my camera)
oooh I hear you say.
So service time!
Engine bay shot, ZOMG! you say, what an interesting engine.
10 minute motor flush. Controversial I know but a like a good flush.
blurry
hup
The cat and silly VAG pancake silencer will be going as soon as I get my hands on a welder.
Black, :S
spillage,
more spillage,
cute
weird rubber block bloted under the RH driveshaft. Just a block. Not a bush or a damper. Just a block?
Wheels off.
spigots for the massive centrebore on these Rota flashbacks.
Handy markings on the Toyo Proxies
success!
oil filter got a bit stuck, resulting in more spillage.
I left this in the boot so had to find a rickety step ladder to climb up and grab them.
A nice genuine filter, note how tidy and clean I keep the bench.
More parts.
rims
I'm pleased with them, though the front arch gap is comical.
So I hope you enjoyed pictures of me spilling oil all over the floor.
I now have a Technical question to ask...
I know I didn't tell you first off, sorry for misleading you.
The golf was a peach, no smoke, not even with the bigger nozzles then last week on a long spirited run I noticed the engine seemed a little less pokey. I dismissed it as me being in the car for 2 hours and imagining things.
But I noticed that a steady stream of blue smoke comes out the tailpipe now. Not massive amounts, but some, its also slower to start in the morning. Just a bit lumpy for the first second or so. It's worse on startup but never clears, on boost or off boost its the same more rpm = more smoke.
Now I did feed it a few liters of new transformer oil as fuel, but I mixed it with about 40 litres of fresh diesel.
Now I have checked the inlet manifold its very clean, no oil in it, the breather isn't blocked, the air filter is new.
I revved it this morning outside work and this happened.....
So yeah, I don't want to think about piston rings, so on top of the Lucas oil that promises big things, I put in some more snake oil in the form of a stopleak that is supposed to reinvigorate rubber seals. In the hop I can cure the valve stem oil seals if thats the problem.
So yeah ideas on the smoke? I took the oil cap off when it was running and the blow by was quite a bit, but not the worst I've seen. My old A4 on 180,000 was worse blow by wise and less smokey.
