Years ago, Alfa Romeo *whilst experimenting with LSD* thought it would be a really good idea get Nissan to create a small hatchback for them to do better in the european market - Essentially to turn THIS: into THIS Can't think how they thought the blandest of designs could of become an alfa. Plus it would actually be reliable, which true enthusiasts couldn't deal with. Now I have found out about the SAAB 9-2x Aero - A subaru impreza. www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2005-saab-9-2x-aero-road-testI can't decide what I think of this! Anyone have any other unexpecting badge engineering?

It's a Daewoo Nexia Fiat Panda? Nope - it's a Seat Marbella Mercedes G-Wagen? No! It's a Peugeot built for the French army... Toyota iQ? No - it's an Aston Martin Cygnet Sköda Felicia Pickup? - Fool! it's a VW Caddy!

IIRC, the Arna had a flat four from the Alfa Sud, the Nissan Cherry Europe had a regular straight four.
That struck me as an early example of platform sharing like the 9000/Croma/Lancia (can't recall the model now) rather than badge engineering. I think the Saab 600 was a badge engineered Lancia Delta.

Peugeot 404- BMC Farina- By my estimate that's 8 models from one basic design (Morris Oxford, Austin Cambridge, Austin Westminster, Wolsley, Riley, MG, Vanden Plas 4 Litre R and Peugeot)

Hi, No I think you mean the other way round, the Arna had the Nissan mechanics and the Cherry Europe had the Alfa mechanics. Colin I just checked Wikipedia. All had boxer engines, I knew the ARNA's did, would have sworn the Nissan didn't.

Hi, The Discovery 1 sold as Honda Crossroad '93 - '98 That buggers my main idea for a contribution... There was a VW Badged version of the old leaf sprung/beam axle Toyota Hilux, can't remember the model name though.

Vauxhall Frontera? And we all know the Monterey is a Trooper with Vauxhall badges on. And my mother had a Nexia, If I needed parts for it I would never ask for Daewoo parts as the motor factors never had them, they had plenty of mk2 Astra parts though which interestingly always fitted straight on...
