FOR SALE (again...after withdrawing last time): 1999 S-Reg LTI TX1 London Taxi Black Cab 2.7 Nissan Non-Turbo Diesel Engine Automatic
Reason for previous sale withdrawal: My other car was hit by a third party and was in garage for repair and needed to use this car daily until that was fixed.
Reason for sale now: I have been using this car until a couple of days before the MOT is due when my (now fixed) car was returned to me, but have not had time to take it to MOT and now I have bought myself a Citroen CX
Mileage: 210,968 (done 1,314 miles since last MOT)
Date of first registration: February 1999
Number of previous owners: 3
Owned since: December 2014
MOT EXPIRED: 3 February 2017 (passed 31 January 2016 at 209,654 miles with no advisory)
Service history: No service book
The following work has been completed - cannot find receipt but I paid £600 for this work to be done, I can only find the worksheet:
February 2015 (5,000 miles ago):
New Steering Box (replaced due to previous MOT failure)
New Headlamp (x1)
New Rear Brake Drums
Engine Oil and Filter change
Gearbox Oil Change
April 2015:
New Battery
History:
I bought this LTI TX1 from a friend after it has retired as a London black cab due to the 15 year rule. I have only done 5,000 miles since acquiring it 2 years ago. During this time, I have done numerous motorway journeys to the midlands and also a variety of short and middle distance trips.
Mechanical:
Engine started first time (almost every time, except for that time when the battery when flat because I left the light on overnight – D’OH). It is not a quick car, but once moving it will happily cruise at 70 mph. Steering is direct (yes direct!) due to the new steering rack fitted 5,000 miles ago. There is no undue noise from the engine or wheels. It has been utterly reliable, start every time in cold mornings. It stops well too and being an automatic, it changes up and down smoothly with no clunks, making it a great car to drive in the city.
Wheels and tires:
Tires look like they have plenty of life in them, the “alloy-look” hubcap took me a long time to get right and I think makes it look nicer.
Bodywork:
As you can see, it has a “Rightmove” livery / wrap, I have painted over the “Rightmove” logo and also painted the lower quarter of the car and also the B and C pillar black. There are some bubbles under the wrap in the arches. The worst rusty bits have been pictured: both corners of the front doors. However, they passed MOT like this last year (1,000 miles ago). One of the wing mirror was taped, but painted gold.
Interior:
Rear compartment has no rips and has a functioning separate heater, electric windows work well. You can also have the cream carpet if you want.
Front driving compartment driver seat has no rip, but has age related use and wear. Heater and blower works well. Electric windows work for both sides, but is tight on the driver side due to the weather strips.
In-car entertainment:
CD player with MP3 capability (via SD card)
Intercom system working perfectly, so you can speak to your friends in the back, or spy on them (shhhh…)
Accessibility:
Wheelchair ramp and spare wheel are present and kept in the boot
Security:
LTI immobiliser system with remote control
In conclusion:
This cab drives well, I have been using it daily when my other car was in garage and it performed flawlessly. I really enjoy the direct (and great turning circle of course) steering due to the new steering box and also how solid it feels. The rear compartment is the warmest place I have ever been in. It has been a great car at having picnics in (face to face rear seats), great at carrying and moving things (I used this car to move my large sideboard due to the walkthrough ability of the rear compartment – saves my back). I have had it for 2 years and I can no longer justify keeping4 6 cars and this one is going first.
Due to MOT being expired (no reason why it shouldn't pass considering only done 1,314 miles since last MOT and is in the same condition as last year), test drive is limited to forward and backward in my drive...I will not have time to take it to MOT as the one I use is in Walworth Road and I just don't have the time and have a new toy - the Citroen - as I said...
Priced accordingly and please no canvassers.
