I acquired some boxes of 'things that might come in handy' from my Mum when my Grandma died.
Inside said box, amongst things that would never come in handy, was a crisp clean white Walkman, complete with Marty McFly style foam clad headphones.
I have no idea what I'm going to do with it, but the retro-hoarder (or just plain hoarder if you ask my wife) in me won't chuck it away.
Would anyone like it? I have tapes but have all the tracks on CD/MP3 so it is surplus. I'll post a pic later.

Found my Walkman the other day. Bought it in 1989 - it had a Graphic Equalizer on it! Sadly although it still works, the headphone jack presumably has a dry joint as it only comes out of one ear... I still have LOADS of cassettes though. This is because I made plenty of mixtapes in the 80s/early90s, and I still have a decent Technics cassette deck that i play them on, as well as a tape deck in the garage and one in my daily VW Bora. As you can see from the pics below, I used to take pride in my mixtapes (amusingly and rather predictably called "Assorted") by spending a bit more money on them (TDK SA90s in the mid-late 80s were expensive!) and also doing "album covers". They have a really unusual and seemingly random selection of music on - anything from Gary Numan to Iron Maiden by way of The Sisters of Mercy, 808 State & Eric Clapton. A truly eclectic mix. The best Tapes I had were TDKs, mainly ADs, ARs, SAs & SA-Xs. All of those still work fine today. I also had several "THAT's" cassettes, which looked funky and were quite good but not as good as the TDKs. Also a couple of basic Denons which I nicked from my Dad. The BASF and Maxell cassettes I have are for want of a better phrase not as firkin' good as they should be... Love a cassette though - a good source of nostalgia. And plenty of wow & flutter... Funky looking "That's" cassette

I've been thinking about finding some cassettes in an op shop or somewhere so I can find out if my tape deck still works. It's a Clarion, so hopefully it's still good! Probably just needs a clean and a new belt...

Yep, still got about 100 cassettes stored away in the lock-up.

Just bought a nice Alpine deck off eBay for the 740, and I've got nice collection in the shed, including a Blaupunkt Montreal and a Bremen, and a fully boxed and unused Sharp 2 knob radio cassette from the 80's. Got loads of tapes well, I think a tape deck is part of driving an 80's car to be honest!
