For sale is a late facelift model BMW E38 7 Series
Let me start off by giving the reason for sale: I sold my 09 330d M Sport and the buyer was based in Newcastle. As a favour and as I work up there, I drove the car up and then needed something to get back down. I hate public transport and didn’t fancy hiring something curse word and small. So I found this for sale locally, used it for a week and now it’s surplus to requirements – it’s a lovely car but I have no need or space for it.
2.8 Litre / M52B28 / 193 BHP / 145+ MPH / 30+ MPG / 500+ Miles on a Tank (yes, really!)
Starts first turn of the key and idles in correct manner. No leaks. No overheating. Gearbox is good and the gear changes are smooth as they should be (I've had several of these 728 models over the years, but this does drive really well).
Exterior is in respectable condition. No major rust or rot. Small rust bubble on bonnet near grill and a few blisters here and there. Crack in the middle of rear bumper and passenger side wing mirror has broken off and held on with strong tape (mirror still adjusts fine). General marks, blemishes and stone chips consistent with age. Still cleans up very well, and is a presentable car.
Interior is in decent condition, with no rips or tears. Electric seats adjust fine in all directions, and are supremely comfortable. The cabin is tight and solid and you can feel that you are sitting in an expensive, high end car (albeit for lemonade money!). Personally, I think that these are better built than the W220 S Class and feel more planted on the road.
Almost everything works as it should. Heaters are excellent, and warm up quickly. The yellow ABS, Brake and Traction lights are on (common issue, possible wheel speed sensor). Due to this, the speedo does not work (all other instruments work fine). I use my phone sat nav for the speed. This does not affect the car, but will need addressing. There are a couple of ‘false’ warning messages related to rear brake lights, but they are working perfectly fine. Usual pixel loss on the stereo display, but the rest of the displays are fine. Boot cannot currently be opened (the boot release function may require a new fuse). Wheel wobble between 40 and 50mph.
All in, it is a perfectly useable daily driver that will sit on motorways for hours on end, whilst returning respectable fuel economy.
Comes with: 1 x Key / BMW Leather Wallet / User Manual / MOT Certificates / V5 Logbook (present and in may name)
Please call me on 07984 395400
Located in Bracknell, Berkshire, RG12 (but can also be collected from Milton Keynes or Newcastle, if required).
