so I'm having random nutty thoughts , i might be buying a 1999 jag xkr supercharged coupe at a cheap price if all goes well ,
if for any reason i don't stick to my plan of fixing it up then id love to fit the 380 bhp v8 into something ,
has anyone done a jag swap like this and know much about the wiring side?
I'm assuming ill need more than the loom ecu and key chip?
or is there a aftermarket managment that would work well? its an auto so ill take the box and managment for that out too

I looked at this a few years back and as far as I could see you would need to keep the abs system to get it to work with the wheel speed sensors for the gearbox /traction control to function . Returnless fuel system as well so needs the pump assembly from the tank. Probably why it's not a very popular engine for transplants

Here's one in the back of a comp safari racer. At this stage was mated to a 4 speed auto with manual paddle shifts now has a quaiffe sequential.

check the engine number to see if this is a Nikasil engine or a warranty replacement.... 1999 cars were Nikasil and suffered plenty of engine problems... also, get a blow-by test done on it.... these supercharged V8's are complex engines, 32 valve quad cam... they have a well known issue with timing chain tensioners disintegrating / timing gear issues and also water pump impellers breaking up.... A good engine is a joy ( although demands proper and regular maintenance) but a tired one will smash a hole in the bottom of your bank account and drain it in no time. What I'm trying to say is make absolutely sure the engine is good with a maintenance record backed up by a paper trail before you go to the expense of an engine swap and stand alone ECU's etc.

As far as I'm aware they're night impossible to get running happy without everything from the original car, and even then can be iffy.
£1200 or more for an emerald ECU setup will see it running on its own, but it's not a cheap option.
A BMW M62 or Toyota 1uz-fe would fit the same bill, be less of a headache, and be cheaper.

this project may still be in the pipeline , I'm struggling to find a cheap lexus ls 400 for a donor for my sierra so I may still take the plunge with the xkr , not sure if there is any parts to convert to manual though

I thought the jag v8's are the same family as the v6's, in which case can you not use a s type V6 manual box?
