Hehe it's the Gold Cup. I wanted to go to this but was expecting to be doing something else this weekend... It didn't happen. Ha! Nice pics man, great event as well.

That pearlescent Quattro was cleaner than clean but the black Sport was just stunning. A perfect mix of aggression, presence, beaty and just the mearest brush with the ugly stick.

It's historic racing. 70s roadsports, 60's forumula juniors, old Chevrons and the like. Basically, anything with numbers is from the paddock, the rest are from the car park. Various owners clubs park up together and all the Cheshire toffs take their best cars. We went in..............................

I used to work at Oulton (in the kitchen!) and was there for a couple of Gold Cups. As posted, it's some hard-as-nails racing with all manner of cars from years gone by. I remember seeing an original Maserati Birdcage pull into the pits (I was in the press office, which overlooks the pit straight and entire pit lane) before launching back out again, the noise it made was incredible, you wouldve probably been able to hear it for the entire lap if it weren't for all the other 60's racers hooning around at the same time.

If I remember correctly it was started to celebrate Oulton's 50th birthday and has become a real crowd puller each year, it's probably as big as the BTCC and Superbikes now, and deservedly so. Going on the pics it's as varied and lovely as ever.
