I've been using this as my daily driver for about 6 years, recently got chatting to somebody who will be selling "something cute" in the next couple of months.
If that happens, the Hunter will be going up for sale.
Questions :
What's it worth / is anyone here interested to save me putting it into storage or gumtree / ebay etc? (form an orderly que)
Viewing possible at RRG end of August or in North Wales until the end of July.
Yes I have an idea of what I've spent getting it the way it is now, yes I have an idea of what I'd like for it, but let's start with what the forum thinks (99p on Ebay is not an option )
Build thread <suggest you read this before asking questions> : forum.retro-rides.org/thread/88892/hillman-hunter-estate-racking-miles
Potential modifications : forum.retro-rides.org/thread/196874/tech-notes-hunter-mods-daily
Spec :
V5 is here in my name, MOT is almost due but I'll be re-MOTing it before RRG, historic (free !) tax, cheap insurance.
Original 1725 motor with sweet overdrive gearbox, radiator had recent recore with heavy-duty matrix, new starter motor last year. Ultra-reliable but has back-pressure (piston rings?) and oil light flickers when hot (bearings? sender unit?). Engines often turn up cheaply, £20 is common - I got offered a "good" one for £80 last week and turned it down as too expensive.
Brakes & suspension are very well sorted (brand new front calipiers & rear cylinders, new rear shocks, rebuilt front struts, new joints & bushes when needed), good tyres.
Body : rustproofed from new, oil leaks from lots of places since have topped-up the rustproofing !
New (unused!) metal wings fitted, I replaced the sills when I got it but they are looking shabby now, body is basically solid but getting a bit crusty in places. Doors are decent but not 100%.
An ideal base for a modern engine swap, a quick tidy-up of any crusty metal, then repaint. A very easy "rolling restoration" or daily driver.
If that happens, the Hunter will be going up for sale.
