Thought I'd make a post with all the old curse word we fix at work amongst the even crapper modern guff. First we've got a MGB engine I rebuilt. Basically a complete renewal - crank grind + bearings, 20 thou oversize pistons and rebore, new cam/lifters/push rods and rocker gear and a unleaded converted head with new valves. Going in a daily driver MGB that does proper mileage so I'm sure it'll be back in soon for doing again. It was a barn find engine that had done 58,000 miles and was completely worn out. Healey engines. Do a lot of machining on these. Rebore, unleaded conversion and crank grind usually. Had a few RBs through for 3 angle seats/larger valves and servicing/shimming. I'll try and keep adding our previous work and everything else that comes through. Absolute tons of rare/desirable (to other people) stuff for me to swear about because they're curse word.

Great stuff, I really like seeing engine building stuff.
One question, what is the o.S.c.a head?
Is it a fiat twin cam or some old British thing?

They were a Italian tuning firm started by some of the Maserati brothers after the war. The block is a 1600 Fiat then they added their own twin cam heads. Used in low production sports cars and racing cars.

Great thread. Why don't you like the Lotus engines? curse word castings of curse word quality alloy that have all being worked on before by various levels of retard so nothing fits properly I.e. I end up having to make custom valve guides, retainers etc etc as once you change one thing nothing else off the shelf fits. They cost and absolute fortune to do and don't make enough power to justify it. Better of starting with a Fiat Twin Cam.

A 190odd thousand mile Pinto I rebuilt to stock spec for a Transit camper van. 20 thou rebore + pistons, new cam and valve gear and a new oil/fuel pump drive shaft was all that was needed to repair it. Cleaning and painting everything took a fair while but turned out nice.

Google ' a pinto called Dave '. It's a thread on some bloke rebuilding a pinto on a budget but also trying to get the best driveable performance on a budget.
Sounds a lot more interesting than it is?

We did something similar to that on another customers Pinto. Made a torquey 140bhp which in a P100 goes pretty well. We do some bigger spec engines, up around the 190-200bhp mark but they're not great on the road
