Have decided to start a new thread,as my Mazda Rx2 thread in readers rides is cluttered up with enough other little projects as it is 😂
So. The plan. I want a winter project to keep me from hibernating. I have most of the equipment I would need to do this already, and if I don't have it,I will make it. I would like to use this little project to get back into sheetmetal work ,welding and fabrication ,as it's been awhile since I have done any. So ,a bit of a training exercise if you like...

A couple of photos for inspiration South African style tow trucks are cool in a bonehead type of way. Totally overpowered. No substitute for cubes. Not normally a fan of tray backs, but these look infinitely better than the Aussie tray backs that look like you nicked your neighbours garage door and bolted it onto your pickup chassis. Piaggio Ape 50. Italian underpoweredness and unreliability at its best. Zero to sixty never due to its stonking 50cc engine. Bmw K100. Aka the flying brick. Interesting 4 cylinder engine. 1000cc. Pretty compact. The engine that is.....

The only problem with my cunning plan is the price that Piaggio Ape's go for.( Ape being Italian for Bee. Strange in a Dutch Irish sort of way. ) It seems that Piaggio owners all smoke the same brand of Electric Spinach, aka Dope, and think that these ickle beasts are made out of some rare, uber expensive Gold/platinum alloy and must be priced accordingly. Anyway,I found a one owner, never been raced or rallied example from Holland. Owner might have been partaking in some of the afore mentioned Electric Spinach,as he seems to have lost the keys whilst driving down the motorway. Luckily Mr Van Dyke's friend, Fireman Sam helped him out his spot of bother, and he lived another day. Hopefully more than a day.... This one didn't cost much for obvious reasons, but will be ideal to see if it will all fit in. They are much more realistically priced in Italy I have a friend there looking out for one, whose next door neighbour owns a transport company that travels to the Uk once a week. So if I do need anything,it won't be an issue.

Believe it or not,it is responding to a light massage 😂 In the meantime I found this and had it delivered last night That's the organ donor sorted then. 99% complete according to the previous owner, with a V5. Owner had it recovered from Germany following a breakdown. "Replaced the ecu without luck,so parked it up a couple of years ago". Now dip me in Chocolate and throw me to the Lesbians, but I think that statement ,however you read it,kind of implies that there is,actually an ecu fitted? It makes no mention of the previous owner taking out the ecu, placing the ecu connector in a plastic bag,and then standing back, shaking his head, wondering why it won't run... I is not amused 😡 Deliberately misleading photos that all stop short of where the ecu should have been. Seller knew full dam well that the ecu isn't there. Not the most expensive to replace, but seeing I paid his asking price, without haggling,I will be opening a dispute with the Bay of Flea, especially as his computer and his telephone have suddenly stopped working. Funny how that happens. Anyway, I fully believe in Karma. For every Scrote I have the pleasure of dealing with,I meet at least two good people. Ian, the custodian of the Piaggio, turned out to be a Gem. We made a deal on what he had,but on collection, after no quibbling for him to come home from work to meet me,he forgot to load the one, rather large part,we had discussed. I only realised this when I got home from my 540 mile round trip. His telephone did still work,as did his computer. Didn't even have to ask,it turned up in the post yesterday, and he won't let me pay the postage. Top bombing, Ian...😊 As for flying brickboy with communication issues? He deserves a flying brick amongst the eyes. Not that he will get it from me. What goes around comes around. May the Flea's of a thousand Camels infest his underpants, and may his fingers turn to fishing hooks....

Now I understand what the woodwork was all about! Sneak preview 😁 You've made a wood squeezer - surely it's easier to just plane a bit off or are you going for a pressure treatment?

Oh excellent, another JB thread to follow along and be amazed at.
Somehow I've never used Ebay; tales like the bike seller don't encourage me to try it. Hope the git gets his comeuppance.

I'm sure scrotal festerances will befall the bee-em's seller. vague listings are common place , deliberately misleading is a s£it-house trick!! the ape looks like its been used for recovery practice by the fire brigade.....at the moment.

8 valve as it has a slightly better torque curve 😊 Don't see many 8V's with black finish rockers I ran my 1200 brick on a dyno on Sunday 115 bhp at the wheel - the Dyno operator asked me what I expected and I'd said it felt like a little bit more pokey than my 1000 RX so probably 110 ish......
