I thought it would be cool to share everyones past or present retro motorpsort derived cars if its a track car or rally car share a pic and maybe a brief spec.

This is in the wrong section, but I'm sure one of our mods will sort it soon!

Here's our retro track car. I say 'our' as myself and meltedcheese are building it together. We both have 1 year old daughters, so progress is currently sloooooow, but it'll get sorted eventually!

Here's my current track car.... a SIMCA 1000 Rallye 2 that has a long history racing in the 'youngtimer trophy' races around Europe. Also photos of my SIMCA Rallye powered FIAT/SEAT 133 and a Hoda twin cam powered SIMCA 1000 I used previously. Can dig photos out of my past sprint, hillclimb and circuit racing SIMCA rallyes and oval hot rod and grasstrack racers going back to the 70s if anybody's interested....

Ahh really sorry i had a quick scan and thought this was the best place to put it. My mrs uses a mk1 MX5 for track, engine is standard but full handling package and it out handles many other cars. on the up in value too.

Old daily/hillclimb car from back in the 1990's. 1700cc x-flow 175bhp


Current hillclimb car, mod prod 1.6 16v 200+bhp/slicks etc.

Love the Simca and splendidly daft 133! I for one would love to see your old stuff especially the oval stuff. I used to help out on a historic circuit racing sort of team, we ran two Sunbeam Tigers and two 1966 Shelby GT350 Mustangs. I'll have to check if I have any photos of those and other friend's race cars if anyone's interested.

1988 astra gte 16v, 220 horse normally aspirated 2 litre twincam engine, bilstein suspension, cage, bucket seats, harnesses

it was a glorified fast road car that evolved from standard, but broke it in 2007. i currently have all the parts and donor vehicle to build a correct for period group A tarmac inspired version

Still looking for grasstrack racing VW photo. Here are some late 70s and 80's photos of my oval hot rod racing efforts with Anglias and Sunbeams.

Here's my first ever race at Hednesford in '79ish. my 51 Anglia in the thick of everything.

In the '90s took to sprints, hillclimbs and the big circuits in road saloons, pre '74 and classic thunder. By then I'd got into SIMCAs. Wish I'd had the 'youngtimer' racer back then.

And my last racing SIMCA before I retired to just doing trackdays. It is in fact the same car as the green big arched SIMCA in my first post. I sold it and a few years later bought it back in a bit of a state and fitted a Honda CRX twin cam to use for trackdays.

And my last oval racer around the turn of the century. Talbot Samba but with the front end structure of a 309 welded into it to take the bigger Peugeot/Talbot engines... a common mod with French hillclimb Sambas.

My ae86 - currently in bits, getting a new ECU installed to replace the fried mid 90s Microtech it was running before

Australian delivered ae86 shell
Early bigport 4age head, 20v bottom end, hi comp pistons, extractors
JDM gearbox and diff, TRD LSD
AJPS front suspension, king springs rear for some squat
14x6.5 Toms Igeta with a050 rubber

Basically a road car but mainly used for track stuff these days. Was considering going with a cage and proper seats but its just a bit too neat and if I was going to run a 2 seat car I would just do a clubman

georgeb ..... sure is High Edge. Buxton was our most local oval track. The first Anglia photo and the first Sunbeam one were taken there too. Here's a bit of a blurry one of the 'Ward Team' out in force at High Edge. I'm spinning out in the Sunbeam while our Kev nips round the inside in my old Anglia.. from around '83.

As the proud owner of a 105E I heartily approve of the hot rod version, to my admittedly biased mind they look superb compared to Escorts. Hope it was a successful car! Also noticed the Mk3 Zephyr estate in the background of one photo, I do like them.

Going right back to the mid '70s... here's my Grasstrack VW Karmann Ghia. Built from a £25 car (those were the days..!!) it had a Lotus-Ford twin cam engine mated to the Vw box by a Hewland adaptor plate and cooled by a Triumph 2000 rad in the 'restyled' nose. Rear end was 'tamed' by a camber compensator adapted from a Triumph one plus the offset banded 13'' wheels. Worked well, especially when things got muddy. When I think what the KG and the twin cam would be worth today..!!
