Back in the 1980's in Australia you could race anything under Group C rules, 351 cubic Inch Ford V8's against toyota celicas and triumph dolomites, with the old Mazda Rx7 and Jaguar XJS thrown in the mix. A few years ago I started building a replica of the 1983 Greens Tuf Group C Ford Falcon it took some time to find the correct bodykit, and the rear 19"x14" wheels were very difficult to find, although the hardest thing to find was the BBS wheels fans for the front 16" wheels and rear 19" wheels. A rolling shell in good condition was sourced off ebay, the paint job was very good, almost a shame when considering what was to come

Welcome !!!!
I absolutely love your thread title....... it draws the eye and tells what you are doing.
And remember that we love the detail, even if some like me don't understand half of it, the clever guys do.
Love the green for starters.
I wonder if your Falcon is our Granada
Of course I also like race replicas, or anything that has a bit more detail than one colour unless its intention is to be a "Sleeper" which yours clearly never will be.

The car then had the guards cut to fit the race wheels and flares applying the colour starting to refit the body painted, awaiting door handles and blackout paint around windows, next is mechanical then interior and last is fitting race wheels front and back

I have a few other project builds going at the moment, should I include updates for them in this thread, or start new threads for them?

According to wikipedia, the model before this (XD Falcon) was styled like a Mk2 Granada, but the only parts shared were the head lights. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Falcon_(XD)XD's had leaf spring at the rear, while XE's got a watts linkage coil spring rear suspension set up

I remember watching the Bathurst race on TV with the XJS and Volvo 240's. I didn't know at the time what the Falcons were. Great job so far, look forward to seeing it when it's finished.

Looking good Did they have the Cleveland or Windsor 351 ? I had a 302 cleveland to go into it, but wanted to do a cam change and got carried away and it's now a 393 cubic inch stroker motor, the gearbox is a ford toploader and the diff is a disc brake ford 9"

Very cool car. I remember watching neighbours and the.n home and away when I was a kid and being confused by the oversized ford Granada’s they had in oz.

Very cool! The first car I remember my parents having was an XF wagon (with a dickie seat in the boot) so this brings back some memories!

We had both an XD wagon and an XE fairmont sedan.
Funny some of the sponsorships. The rainbow circle around the number used to be the old symbol for Channel 7. Skinnys (a leathergoods shop) is still around and still using the same Wild West Font, and Prudential I had to google, so they are still around, but not a known brand/name.
