It's come to my attention that this forum may actually be older than Jesus himself. How old is it and what is the secret to keeping an (excellent) forum from being dwindled by Facebook? I'd be genuinely gutted if RR disappeared

Iwhat is the secret to keeping an (excellent) forum from being dwindled by Facebook? People realising that FB Groups are curse word and will never function as well as even a basic forum structure can and have done for many many years.

How old is it and what is the secret to keeping an (excellent) forum from being dwindled by Facebook? I have a Vlog thing on its way about just this subject. Also forums will be around long after facebook has dwindled (which it is already doing) Oh and yes the Forum started on 16th February 2004 : forum.retro-rides.org/thread/1 ... so nearly 14 years old.

I've just realised I have been a forum member since 2007. It tells a lot doesn't it when a forum can keep going for 14 years. Nice work guys.

I don't do facebook or any of the others. I'd be in the wilderness (again) if this forum disappeared, mind you, there's some who think thats where I should be!

I joined FB this year previously believing it to be the devil in digital form Having since used it to great success to access info and more importantly rare parts for my retro ride... I'm still under no illusions If your young and impressions by other people's comments then it's still a place to avoid at all costs. Me personally, I don't give a flying fook if someone takes offence to genuine advice offered so can live with that to get my car sorted 👍
FB is all YOU allow it to be IMHO

Yeah Facebook is okay at a bunch of things, really good at a bunch of things and really bad at a load of things. Forums are great at some things and bad at some things and need to get a lot better at a load of things

Been lurking for about 5 years now and this year decided to sign up. Now the only forum I actually use. I have done the VWVortex, Vagdrivers, Autostadt, Edition38 etc. Growing up I’ve learnt to appreciate much more than before, and despite being a VW enthusiast (and club committee member) I own various other makes - Bought my parents a Rover 75 after me owning a bubble 200, Have an E36 cabrio in need of love and a 205 GTi desperately in need of love!
