It was ok. Ant is a bit too much like an excited labrador but he might grow on me.
I'm glad they cut down all the fake sales and purchasing curse word a little bit.
The worst one for me was the Audi tt that they bought with a knackered gearbox. Ed fixed it for £1.50. Any car dealer would have done his research himself before selling the car so cheap. Or the merc SLK where they got a supercharger, set of alloys, new stero and a body panel for £400 from a specialist breakers....really??
I watch it because I love cars and I do tend to learn something small from every episode because they are cars Ive never worked on. Id miss it, if it was cancelled but just don't like the silly fantasy stories that go with it. Its lost its way a bit. It used to be about cheap cars that the average joe could fix up and make a few quid on.

I watched it last night and thought it was pretty decent. Edd falling on his sword appears to have done some good. One of his grievances as I recall was reduced technical content, which was echoed on various forums, and they seem to have gone the other way now.
It's different but definitely not worse (sorry Edd).
I think part of the difficulty for the makers is that everyone wants different things from it. Personally, I've no real desire to see a stream of tatty hot hatchbacks being given a tart up and the Japanese cars often make for dull viewing because everything basically works so they fix the A/C and turn it into a drift car. I know people who only watch it if they like the featured car. The ones I'll happily watch over and over include the DS, Urracco, 2CV, Maser GT, Amphicar, Darracq, PV544, Corvair and so on. No desire to own any of them but fascinating nonetheless because I know very little about them. I always watch it in the hope of learning something useful.
I always assumed that the buying and selling was largely make believe so the less of that the better. Personally I'd rather watch 45 minutes of the guy fixing the car but I guess that's a different show.

I've watched 6 episodes so far, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think Ant is much better than Ed, I like the fact that he will try to repair something (or make up his own parts) rather than just spend the money on just bolting new parts on, in one of the last episodes he made a set of headers and exhaust system for a Healey 3000.

Mr Brewer really pushes my buttons in a bad way.
true met him at nec what a prick , some one shouted where s edd , mike was telling a story on him stealing whiskey from ophra , everyone was laughing ,i turned to my mate and asked what was funny , ant on the other hand was brillant and knows his stuff ,
met fuzz and put my arm round him and said your works wibblepoo , lol told tim the same lol , they where full of crack and spent time with every one , one of the cars in the new series is from derry , he told me they where filming that week in ireland and reconised the accsent straight away ,
really enjoyed them

I enjoyed it, but mikes quick to knock the original seller down 5 grand but then doesn't even give the bloke a good deal. The bloke paid 20k for a horrible wing, some wheels he will sell on and a turbo rebuild, he could have just had a garage sort that himself in the first place. Take the numbers with a pinch of salt. Remember the mk1 XR2 they bought for a grand i think it was? Anyway the guy that sold it to them posted on a forum (may have been on here) that the sale price was nothing like the price on the tv show, Although he didn't say if it was less or more but i expect it was a lot more.

Quite enjoyable tbh, Ant comes across well, I agree with keithyboy though, they should just ditch the selling bit, it just seemed like the guy had paid for a restoration job. At least Mike Brewer is better than Phil "Get in the Audi Bolly Knickers" Glenister! 😆

I watched the 2nd one last night - Supra. Really enjoyed Ant's explanation on how head gaskets work. Not convinced the car needed one though lol.

I've never understood wheeler dealers. The buying part is already done, they know the price so why the soap opera pretending.
Mike is unwatchable, the number of times he wiped his rings over fresh paint alone is annoying but all the shouting and muppetry ruins it. Considering all the mouthing off he did when Ed left it sounds like he has a fair bit of say on the production.
The work they undertake is generally boring or pointless or both, with no real information imparted. I did like for the love of cars though so maybe Ant has changed that.
Then the 'buying', where the show runner pretends to be excited and 'buy' a car that they probably won't ever sell and the price they want and they lose out on later.
Don't get why a show who's schtick is that they buy and sell cars fake the two things meant to make them different, and they're not even good at trying to hide that. I'd rather watch the openly scripted American car shows honestly.
On a happier note I hope those who enjoy the show continue to enjoy it! Everyone is open to like what they want.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I watched the new wheeler dealers. I thought Ant was ok when he did For the love of cars with Phil Glenister.
Overall it was better than expected but there were a good few cringworthy moments that have already been mentioned. The turbo, oil leak and spoiler being the main ones. I will be watching to see what the future brings and have always watched wheeler dealers with a view that it was staged and setup.
If they lost some of the faked buying and selling to concentrate on the cars it would make it 100% better but I am not sure that most of the viewing public would agree.

I'm going to be honest, it's better than I thought. I didn't even think the Escort was that bad. The wing will divide opinion but it was a unique touch endorsed by one of the original designers. Frank Stephenson wanted to do something more drastic on the RS500 Cosworth wings but his attempts were watered down for the roadgoing versions. As for the wheels, they're a nice nod to the Monte Carlo Escort Cosworth, the holy grail of road production EsCoses, much like the Sierra RS500 is for the 3 door Cosworths . The pricing seemed silly but we do forget one thing. Spares. I'm sure European Fords over there are akin to us owning similarly aged J cars ; i.e there are no specialists etc. dishing out the bits, you have to deal with people from the UK, which despite a lack of language barrier can soon become pretty expensive, especially now Ford have openly said that parts will become NLA as more already are for the older Fords. While oil changes are normal on a car like that alot of jobs probably aren't, with not many people having the know how of what to do over there. Christ, people balls things up on cars we own over here unless you search out the right people! I say this from me owning the Carina and Rich here owning the DR30. I thought my Escort RS Turbo was bad for parts availability. My Carina was terrible and the DR30s not great at all, with even experienced hands becoming confused by what seem like simple devices, like the steering box for example. But yes, £20k on top was a little rich even if paying top end rates to a garage. Ant's explanation of the turbo was textbook good ; it's how I understood how they worked years ago. But if you ask me, the first episode was great. The Supra one, not so much. I used to like how Edd showed how he came to his conclusion about a HG being gone and showing the tests he did to confirm it. It seems here they just went off one small sign of mayo in the cap to condemn it. Now, they probably did do more stuff to diagnose but it would have been nice to have seen that. Ant seems like a better TV persona than Edd too. That said, it does have to appeal to a wide audience which it probably does with the new format.

Even less impressed with one - Mig welding a cast manifold! and Blue shoes were two of the few things that stood out pardon the pun, not in a good way - Not sure I have come out of it any the wiser about the Celica Supra apart from some dross about an America magazine. Work practices of Ant make me shudder. I much preferred Edds OFFS antidote to Mikes manic puppy eagerness - Edds "Oh no it's thrown up on the floor again" expressions provided a balance - Now we have two happy little tail waggers for the less automotive enlightened to feel sorry for as they run around bumping into things. I think editing the progs on Youtube with happy puppy cartoon faces on the pair of them would actually make it more viewable as you be be fully aware that it's just a caricature of what it was.
The balance is off now.

You need that person to look blandly at the front man and say "COCK" or at least makes the face that says "YOU COCK" every time he opens his mouth.

I'm not sure if it was just me, but did anybody else notice -
When Ant was explaing the removing of the head and he was going on about setting top dead centre, he pointed to the cam sprocket on the right hand cam and said the 'three dots'should line up. Was it just me not paying attention, or were two of the dots on the same sprocket? Ie whatever you do they can never be OUT of alignment. They are on the same fixed piece of metal.

Wading in and pulling the head because of a bit of gloop in the oil filler cap without detailing what other checks were done irked me slightly too.
Overall I liked what they did with the car though.

Goblin Motors or whatever it was called - Possibly the worst attempt at a car show I've EVER seen. Proper cringeworthy.
30k for a zetec'd Scort with 170bhp - joke! (Although I don't doubt it - there is one born every minute they say)
