I will give City powder coaters another vote. At £20 a rim it is not worth anyone wasting time preparing and rattle can finishing wheels with poor results in comparison to powder coating. I used bournes round the corner from city for years but they were getting silly with the prices last time I went in. To be fair one specialist in Saltely still swears by Bournes and I will admit their Anthracite is alot nicer than what City offer; Compared to my 944 and M3 the Clio wheels looked almost black in Anthracite and that was on a silver car. But then for 90% of jobs City are spot on if you can live with the colour choices  . |

The last wheels I had done at Bournes were £35 each and they were only 13s.They were £20 a wheel when I first used them but I think it changed ownership and the price has gone up every time I have been since. I think City are doing them to the same standards in fact I was never overly impressed with bournes, they once did a wheel for me and left a lead weight I had not seen on the inside rim. What was the powdercoater thinking? Yee ha. |

I'm glad you told me that. I was debating on where to refurbish the M3's wheels ; they are "Smoked Chrome", so black but with a dash of Chrome spray across the top ; Shadow Chrome seems have a little more Chrome sprayed on with a similar effect. City are out for aforementioned reasons and a stock finish is out of the question ; I don't have the patience to keep Diamond Cut/Polished wheels clean for ages. That leaves Shadow or Smoked Chrome again, and probably a job for the Wheel Specialist . |
