I thought as I have 4 Italian cars I should have an Italian bike, it’s not been used for 14 years, has no ignition, no keys, can’t open the tank, no logbook and many many unhappy parts, I love it already and I only got it this morning. Had a quick squizz around it, all the fasteners are coming off/out, engine is not seized, seat is beyond economical repair, no battery, I think though the basics are sound. Cost me an arm and a leg for its rarity. £160

Where are we now, I knocked up a stand from some off cuts, removed r/h side carb, head, head looks good and the carb is gummed up with tar..... Complete exhaust removed, headers and ‘H’ piece are usable, one silencer is holed and both are very rusty, particularly inside. Timpsond made me a key from the seat lock number so the tank has been opened for the first time in god knows how long, it’s not bad at all inside, quick flush with fresh fuel and new filters and it’s ok to be used. R/H switchgear-throttle has been butchered inside. Clutch and gears work, no fluid in the rear brake, seized piston (now removed) in the front brake. Incidentally I just found out the bike has linked brakes, press the foot pedal for the rear brake and it operates on front disc as well, handlebar lever operates the second front disc. Pulled out the rear wheel only to find it packed with the corpses of a billion earwigs....

My other half's brother is building something very similar with almost the same bike. His has the twin brake too which I had never seen before. His is running now and it sounds like a monster!

Not that much to report, managed to get a second hand ignition barrel and even more surprising is that the key I got for the tank fits it perfectly. Whipped the valve gear out and popped off the heads, barrels and pistons, lucky I did as one cylinder had water and gunge on top of the piston (it’s air cooled) I reckon they had it stored with a loose or missing spark plug. Happy to report NO DAMAGE and rings must be good as it did not seep down

I don’t have a valve spring compressor but I did have an old G clamp and an angle grinder, worked a treat

Got 30 minutes on it today, the 2 exhaust downpipes to the silencers have a cross connect, it was seriously knackered, bought a length of ss tube and made a new one.....

It is apparently a long way to Tipperary, it’s even longer on a scale of time since I did this... Only other things I have done is scotch padding the engine cases.
