I think Halfords do free battery testing if you unhook it and take it in, assuming you have another car to get to Halfords in.
I’ve always been slightly dubious about places that sell things offering “free” checks but might be worth a try and somewhere like that if the new battery doesn’t solve the problem then they should give a refund. (Best to check first though)
